I think it’s perfectly fine to feed adult pellets. I would be vary though of pellets with no label. You want to make sure they meet nutrition requirements. As for the hay, a mix of alfalfa and grass hay is just fine. Nothing wrong with planning ahead and setting yourself up for success.

Thanks for the update! Notably, there are abnormal presentations of syphilis where symptoms only occur around the mouth. My Wick actually was a case — he had no nose, eyes, or genital symptoms; just mouth! A test obviously means time and money so I think it’s good to keep it in the back while testing more likely options!

Update: Just waiting for test results now. They said they would get them in a few days. They did a culture and skin impression. In the meantime, I was given some Sulfatrim again to help him right now. They said we will probably switch to a different antibiotic when they know what’s going on.

Thank you so much for your help. Today I got on much better, I switched to 1ml syringes and filled 8 of them. I threw a towel over him and basically sat on the floor with him between my knees and just his head poking out of the towel. My daughter then slowly syringed the CC in and he ate the lot. I would go for a mix. As youre saying, it can be difficult to wean a bun off of alfalfa at around 7 months, if all he’s had up until then is alfalfa. Thank you so much! I know it might seem a little anal but we lost a bunny before so now im overly careful and cautious. With COVID its twice as hard to get a vet appointment.

I just want to add, that when I weigh my bun, I put the scales and bowl on the floor. This is because if the bun decides to jump out of the bowl during the weighing, the distance to the floor will be quite manageable.

I always use the C-grip that Dana mentions. And remember, as long as you get some of the CC into the bun, it’s a win!

I agree that you should keep trying to get the CC into him until his hay consumption is back to normal. He is prob drinking less since he’s eating less hay.

I agree with Bam, if she’s getting plenty of adult pellets and alfalfa hay (along with grass hay) you should be OK. Young bunnies should have almost unlimited pellets.

Also in my experience, when rabbit pellets are sold in bulk, they are often alfalfa based pellets that are sold for breeders etc. So they might actually be more similar to young…[Read more]

She looks very young so it’s hard to say, but I don’t think she looks like a dwarf or a rex (she doesn’t have rex fur). She is very cute though!
