DanaNM replied to the topic How can I bond better with my rabbit? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 7 months ago
Yes, I think that is probably the main issue here. Ideally he should have a bunny-proofed exercise space that he can access without you carrying him. He doesn’t need access to it 24/7, but ideally should have several hours a day to exercise during the times when he’s most active (longer if his cage is small). Some people will use a ramp or make…[Read more]

What about using an exercise pen instead? You can get something to protect the floor with and then put fleece or a low pile rug over that.

She’s very cute! Probably a mix of small-medium (non-dwarf) breeds. Maybe some Havana?

Hey guys! I just adopted my new baby Willow and I was wondering if any of you would know the breed or could guess the breed she is!!! The woman I adopted her from did not have any information (besides her being 1 and a half to 2 years old) to give me on her so I’m at a loss and cannot seem to come to a conclusion on her breed. I am thinking a D…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Do I REALLY Need To Spay? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago
House rabbits are spayed for 2 reasons: Preventing reproductive cancers and behavior. The risk of cancer is high (up to 80%), but does vary by breed a little bit. Changes within the uterus can begin as early as 3-4 years of age.
Let’s assume that Jumping Jack is actually 8 years old. Does it matter at this point? Some would argue that the risks…[Read more]

Hmm, I see, thank you for your advice. Yes, I have to pick him up because his cage is a little bit off the ground. I’m not sure I could have it on the ground, that might be a problem, but I guess we’ll see. Eventually we hope to put on another room to our house and move him in there, so maybe then he will be able to have his cage on the ground. My…[Read more]

Several sources say that grape vine and leaves are safe, as long as there are no pesticide residues.
As far as the tunnels go, it depends on if they chew them! My buns had a cat tunnel that I think was the jackson galaxy brand and they left it alone for the most part (an occasional nibble but nothing major). But then I got a new one that I didn’t…[Read more]

Howdy y’all! You might remember me as JumpingJackRabbit13. But I forgot my info, had to use a different email and make a new account.
So, I think I have enough money to move my rabbit Jumping Jack from her old dump into my room for a better enclosure. I know all the requirements and whatnot, but I need some cool ideas for the pen itself, to make…[Read more]

When you say you take him out to run, do you mean you have to pick him up each time? If so, that could be why he’s skittish. Rabbits as a rule don’t like being picked up, so being picked up daily can make them nervous and learn to fear you every time you reach for him.
So if that’s the case, the first thing to do would be to modify his set-up so…[Read more]

Hello everyone! My rabbit’s name is Sooty, he’s a black rabbit (not sure what breed, possibly Havana) and 3 years old iirc. I love him very much, but even though I’ve had him for about 2 years now he still doesn’t seem very comfortable around me or sociable. I wouldn’t say he’s afraid of me, but he does sometimes get nervous around me and dislikes…[Read more]

Howdy!
Hey, my bunno Jumping Jack is 6-8 years now (I lost track). But I worry about spaying her.
So, she marks sometimes, but not often at all. I was wondering if I could train her out of it?
My dad doesn’t want to spay for whatever reason, and he’d be paying for it if I did it. So that doesn’t work well.
I feel like she’d do good with a…[Read more]

I think this might be a totally stupid question asking if they’re safe. 😆 I’m just really picky with the toys I buy lol. Just didn’t know if there’s any risks that comes with them!

Thank you DanaNM! He has a big squishy round face (super cute). That’s really nice that your friend spoke to the vet about it. 💜 You can thank them for me if you’d like! I’m still waiting for these test results, so I’ll see what comes out of it and switch to a bottle if needed! Thanks. 💜

I just chatted with one of my friends at the rescue who said she was lurking on the forum and saw this thread. She even chatted with our vet about it and said this can def happen from drinking from a bowl and getting the chin too wet if the rabbit has a certain face shape. Syphilis was also an option, so if you rule that out then she said…[Read more]
