Thank you LBJ10! Oh ): Rest In Peace little bunny 💜 ):
That’s interesting, I didn’t know that. I just see the New Zealand white rabbits online which don’t look a lot like Pinky. I looked up the broken pattern rabbits and I do see the spots around the eyes, but I’m not sure! Yeah, the fur is like a red-brown. The rescue called it tan. I was thi…[Read more]

Okay, I did the math, and she is close to 7 years.
When we got her, we didn’t know you should rescue rabbits and bought her from a holland lop breeder. So how old are rabbits when they are separated from their moms in breeding facilities?
We bought her the day before Easter in 2014, so it was probably however long before when she was born.

Thank you!! He’s a dutch, about 3 lbs now I think. I’ll just buy a smaller bag of the junior pellets and transition him. I appreciate your help!

Bam replied to the topic Bloody Poop in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago
Red blood around the anus indicated that the probem lies somewhere rather close to the anus. If there is a bleed higher up in the GI canal, the blood that comes out will not be red and liquid, but black (or at least very dark brown).
This could be a polyp (most common cause), or a hemorrhoid or a papilloma located near the anal opening. Here is…[Read more]

Hello, I’m really scared so I just made an account to post this. Sorry if this isn’t the right place. All the vets are closed otherwise I would take her right now, but I have to wait until morning. My female rabbit, Lily, is spayed and 8 years old. She has existing health problems. She can’t pee on her own. We had her x-rayed and checked and every…[Read more]

Do you have someone who can help you?
Here are a couple different methods that I like, depending on the bun:
Here’s a cool method involving training the bun to allow you to trim their nails without force: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEFrHZbw6tQ&list=PLn9xVcGXrVa5t-XUXErt_cTmjBPRKPnGZ&ab_channel=SarahOwings
I use something similar to this…[Read more]

Hey all!
Semi new here, my name is Rae and I care for my seven month old Holland Lop, Guatavo -commonly referred to as Gus-. I bought Gus from a breeder impulsively (I now know better) at the beginning of the pandemic and since then he has taken over my life and I dedicate my time to make sure he is healthy and happy; he gets the whole kitchen to…[Read more]

If he’s a small breed then it would be OK to start switching now. You would want to transition though, not just hop to the adult formula once the junior formula is used up. It might be best to buy a new bag of junior pellets and then use that in the transition to adult.
Any of the adult formulas are fine. Most people stick to the essentials.

I have been feeding my 5 month old rabbit the Oxbow young rabbit pellets since I got him in October and we’re now almost done with this bag. Can I switch him over to the adult pellets once we’re done (in the next few days) or is he too young? If I keep him on the young pellets, do I just decrease the amount once he’s around 7 months? Just want to…[Read more]

Wenny replied to the topic Does my rabbit have ear mites?? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 7 months ago
He does get his nails clipped regularly and the last time he got it trimmed was like a week ago. When he climbs on my lap the nails feel pretty blunt, so that’s why I was suspecting it was some sort of skin issue instead.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Bunny schedule in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 7 months ago
Rabbits are crepuscular so they are naturally active early in the morning and in the evening. Afternoon is usually sleepy time. Most rabbits will adapt to a schedule that reasonably follows their natural habits. I would keep up the routine of giving her access to playtime in the evening. She will likely learn it is her time to run around and…[Read more]

It may be a sign that his nails need to be cut too. Rabbits will naturally scratch their ears with their back feet when grooming. Claws that are super sharp can easily cause an accidental scratch.

Poe & Atlas replied to the topic Grooming plushie after drinking in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 7 months ago
My rabbits don’t groom their stuffie after drinking, but they do it whenever they pass it. I’ve always interpreted it as them caring for their stuffie, or accepting it as one of their own? Grooming is a super social behaviour in rabbits, almost like a love language from what I understand. So it’s kind of their way of loving their stuffie, at least…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic What breeds are Pinky and Muffin? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago
New Zealands are a common breed. It wouldn’t surprise me if Pinky was a New Zealand mix. Broken pattern is also recognized in New Zealand rabbits. The amount of white varies with the broken gene, some individuals have little color and some have a lot of color. Sterling passed away. I’m not sure if LPT ever knew what he was. She does have what…[Read more]

One of my rabbits had GI stasis a few months ago. Took him to the vet, got medication to feed him, etc. Over the next couple days he got so upset when I was around because he associated me with his meds and critical care I was feeding him. Once he stopped needing them, he was still on edge around me for a few days. I tried feeding him treats and…[Read more]
