From what I understand, there are variations of the chinchilla color. These variations are influenced by other genes like the “wide band” gene, which makes the silver/white band in the chinchilla color about twice as wide. Technically chinchilla rabbits have this really clear banding pattern with 4 bands (notice the second black band before the white ticking), I don’t think Muffin quite has it:

As much as those really look like Pinky and his siblings, they’re not! (At least I don’t think they are). It’s a photo I found online when I was looking at bunny stuff lol. I just thought it would help identify what breed he is.

Sounds like a good plan! After you transition, just keep an eye on his body condition (I usually just feel my bunnies LOL). If he seems thin he might need a larger amount of pellets while he continues to grow a bit.

Usually breeders separate babies from mom around 8 weeks.

I think at 7 years I would call around and see what the vets are like in your region. If they do a lot of spays, they will likely be comfortable doing it after doing some blood work.

If you blow on Muffin’s fur, do you see rings of alternating light and dark? That’s the hallmark of the chinchilla color. 🙂 I was thinking that’s what he looks like as well.  I think the chinchilla color can be on other breeds as well.

Poe & Atlas LOL the only reason the stuffies hair would be messy is from them grooming it! All that fuzz sticks together and makes it look wet lol.

Yeah it took them a while to warm up to their plushies (as with anything new lol) I guess they could be accepting it and social grooming lol.
