DanaNM replied to the topic Advice on bonding with my rescue bun 🙂 in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago
In my opinion, since you now know you can pick him up if needed, I would only pick him up when you need to (like for nail trims, etc.).
I think it’s important for owners to be able to pick up there rabbit for necessary things, especially like in an emergency, but I don’t really think it’s necessary or helpful to the bond with the rabbit to…[Read more]

How long have you had her? It can take buns a bit to adjust.
I recommend spending as much time as possible in the room with her, but ignore her completely. Allow her to come out and explore when she feels ready. My recent foster-fail was very shy and cage aggressive at the shelter, and had no interest in coming out of her pen for the first week…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Homemade Rabbit Pellets in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 7 months ago
While a lot of rabbit pellets used to be geared towards breeding and did not have great ingredients, there are a lot of brands now that are tailored to house rabbits and use high quality ingredients. Since most of these brands only recommend feeding a small amount to the rabbit, the pellet is actually one of the cheapest parts of my rabbit’s diet.…[Read more]

My buns got kind of sick of spring mix as well. I think the soft leaves are not as appealing to them as more robust crunchy leaves. I might be OK to give daily, depending on what is in it. Some spring mixes have a lot of spinach and baby chard/silver beet, which also has a lot of oxalate. But others are more of a variety of lettuces. You might try…[Read more]

Hi everyone! I have a petition going for access to vaccines in North America and would appreciate signatures. With the new administration dealing with Covid I’m sure RHD is not the first thing being brought to their attention. I’ve already emailed the White House and reminded my senator but am hoping to get more signatures before I close this.…[Read more]

I have a rabbit named Nala that I got from a shelter. Her previous owner had a lot of pets and never had the time to be able to handle Nala. She is about 3-4 years old with a big 6′ by 8′ cage. I am hoping to free roam her in my room soon but she hates it when I’m in the room with her. The only time I’m aloud in her cage without her thumpin…[Read more]

NalaBunny replied to the topic What flooring do YOU use? And opinions needed in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 7 months ago
As of right now, I use an area rug that my family doesn’t really care about. But if the pee pads don’t work out in the long run maybe try taking puzzle play mats and covering them with fleece and setting the cage on top of that. This gives them no easy edges to chew but if they start to have trouble spots then the best thing to do would be to…[Read more]

Although it is a good idea to get your rabbit comfortable with being held, your rabbit might just never get used to being held. Some rabbits just really hate being held mostly cause of their prey animal instincts. If you need to transport your rabbit I recommend having a carrier and placing them in the carrier. I have a rabbit that just doesn’t…[Read more]

If the problem goes away with neosporin, it’s not mites. If it’s mites, the problem will return. Mites often don’t cause the rabbit any discomfort until the infestation becomes really bad, so this is one of the few instances where you can actually wait and see for a little bit (rabbits are otherwise typically not wait-and-see-animals).
Advantage…[Read more]

Okay! This is super helpful and definitely something that I’ll be looking into and trying. I was recommended to use some Neosporin on the area and that seems to help a TON so I’m thinking it’s Probably  just some dandruff or dry skin? Thoughts?

Hi y’all, me again.
So, I’ve been opened up to the world of homemade pet foods. I heard that there are tons of benefits to a homemade pet food. Same thing with humans, better for us not to eat processed crap. Plus, pet food is STUPID expensive.
I already give Jumping Jack her greens, I know that. But for her pellets, I want her to stop eating…[Read more]

@DanaNM thanks for letting me know! Are spring greens ok to give to my bunny daily? I might just give him spring greens once a day and then spinach as an occasional treat from now on… I usually give him a small amount of spring greens 4 times a day but I think I might be giving him too much without realising, hence him taking a long time to eat…[Read more]

Sometimes bunnies do get sick of certain veggies, or they may get used to having them (food security) so they will eat more slowly (my Myra is like this with romaine… she always eats it eventually but doesn’t eat it as fast as her favorites).
Not eating can also be a symptom of a problem (tummy problems or a dental issue), but if he is eating…[Read more]

I adopted Leafy a few days ago, alongside his girl Ivy from the RSPCA. Ivy’s forms identify that she is a Netherland Dwarf x, but Leafy’s form and vaccination book are just blank (even his age is blank, but thought to be about 13 months). Anyone have any idea what he might be? He weighs 1.53kg and here is a photo for reference:

Hi everyone ! 🙂
I give my bunny sid fresh greens and spinach everyday and have been doing so for a couple months now. I give them to him quite frequently during the day. Today he’s been eating his hay, drinking a bit of water and went crazy when he smelt his pellets and a slice of apple I left him! But when I put some greens in his bowl, he a…[Read more]
