sydneyjorg started the topic Will my bunny stop pooping/peeing on bed? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 7 months ago

Hi everyone, this is my first time using this website so I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly so please be patient with me lol. I’ve had my male rabbit Nemo (mini rex)  for about 3 months, I’d guess hes about 6 months old. He’s definitely super roudy, probably because hes young. Anyway, he was neutered about a month ago and I’ve read it can…[Read more]

Hi there, sorry you are dealing with this, abscesses are so stressful. I had a bun with a jaw abscess a few years ago.

The best course of action is to treat it aggressively, so that usually means surgically cleaning out the abscess and giving antibiotic injections (usually penicillin) for several weeks.  Rabbit abscesses are full of a very thick…[Read more]

    Hi all,

I have a gorgeous mini lop who is 7 years old. He has always been a very active, healthy, and happy bunny.

In October last year, he developed some eye weeping, in which the vets prescribed him with Genoptic eye drops. In December, he returned to the vets for further treatment as the drops were not helping at all.

    Following further…[Read more]

I have a rescued lionhead bunny, that is around 2-3 years old. The other day, his left ear fell down completely, and hasn’t come back up since! I did some research, and I am pretty sure that he is a half lop, because his ears have always been “bouncy”, and when he is super relaxed, he looks like a lop with both of his ears down LOL. But I just…[Read more]

Thanks for filling out the template!

So, I think my first move would be to do some cage swaps, or at least litter box swaps, and see how that goes. In my experience the mixing of scents is really what helps, and they don’t fully get that when they just live side by side (even though the settling in is great too).  I’ve noticed that sometimes…[Read more]

It sounds like she is reacting to the smell of the new bunny? And possibly having hormone fluctuations relating to being spayed, depending on the timing?

Female rabbits can go through a post-spay “craze” around 4-6 weeks after spaying, but it should calm down after that.

Both things should get better with time. Rabbits that were overly caged can…[Read more]

    Spay/Neuter
Are your bunnies spayed/neutered?If so, for how long (for each)?

Rosie (f)  has been spayed for over a year and Gwen (m) has been neutered for about 5 months now.
    Housing
Please describe your bunnies’ current housing set-up (living together, as neighbors, etc.).

they have been living as neighbors since July but I have moved Gwen in…[Read more]

Ah, it sounds like she could have some extra cecotropes? They are a special type of poop that the bunny eats to get extra nutrients. It’s pretty normal for young bunnies to produce some extras since they are on a richer diet. If there are just a few each day then it’s nothing to be concerned about. If she starts producing lots of them, or they are…[Read more]

There are 2 options with an injury like this: Surgery to remove the torn piece or simply allow it to heal. If you simply allow it to heal, there will likely be some protrusion for the rest of his life. I can see why your vet prescribed the Tobradex. That ointment contains tobramycin (antibiotic) and dexamethasone (steroid), which will prevent…[Read more]

Eggplant can be given to rabbits in moderation, but a lot of rabbits may not like the spongy consistency, and I don’t know that a lot of people have offered it to their rabbits.  It can be found on some lists of veggies and fruits for rabbits, but it’s not one of the more common ones.  Be sure to never give them the leaves or the green tops.  Eg…[Read more]

Hi, does anyone live in CT and know a very experinced vet who can perform a neuter/spay? The one place that has a very experinced doctor just quoted me 500-800 for just a neuter (higher end being if the bun needs to stay over night and the lady on the phone did say they will not let the bun home unless it is eating)

the spay would be 800-1000…[Read more]
