I agree with Dana. Poops along some sort of border between areas are territorial markings. Baby buns aren’t territorial, so this is a pretty clear sign that your bun has hit puberty. Ooh I agree that hormonal pee is the worst! And hormonal poops are smellier too! We had this gorgeous unspayed female at the rescue (this cow-spotted standard rex named Lady Bun Bun)… and she was gorgeous but OMG was she smelly!

The pen you have sounds like it’s a good size. Believe me, hormonal pee is kind of gross. LOL  The poop doesn’t bother me though because they are strict herbivores. It’s not like there is anything potentially nasty in their poop (like a dog or cat). Rabbit poop is perfectly acceptable for compost to be used in a vegetable garden.

You can certainly feed both, but it’s perfectly acceptable to do one or the other. And yes, it’s better to have them on grass hay early because it’s hard to transition them later if they are on alfalfa hay.

Sometimes when they are really nervous, they hold it in. This doesn’t sound unusual for a nervous bunny in a new home. Glad to hear the poop finally started. 🙂
