Oh yes thats a good idea. And I even think I sometimes pet her when she nips me so she would stop doing that.
I’ll try that!
I have just one more question.
She started to be real cuddly and I can even pick her up however I want. Before we couldn’t even catch her. Do you think it will stay like it is now? (I really like this change in behaviour haha)

You can try making a squeaking noise when she nips you (similar to how a bunny sounds when they scream …:( ), sometimes that communicates to the bun that they are hurting you. Bunnies nip each other a lot and it doesn’t hurt them because of all their fur.
Also notice whether you are unintentionally rewarding the nipping behavior. Are you giving…[Read more]

I’m not familiar with this procedure, but Medirabbit (a trusted source) has some information on it: http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Surgery/Ear/ear_resection.htm
How many times has his ear infection recurred at this point?

This all sounds pretty normal, I think just more pre-bonding time should do the trick! My impression is that flopping against the divider can mean “Look how much I DONT care about you” LOL
Usually it’s a good idea to let the new bun settle in for a week or two with no side swaps. So you might go back a step, and even consider hanging up a towel…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Small space making things worse? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 6 months ago
Dang! But not too surprising. Some bunnies go through repeat of the phases any time there is a change in the environment, and then things settle down again. Hoping they calm down once they get used to it!

Ah no!! There has been a recurrence of the chase/mounting, last night and this morning. I guess the litter box changed the environment enough for Theo to go for it… So far it doesn’t seem to be so much as to stress out Alfredo. At this point, I can’t remove the litter box… it would just be too messy since I have a roommate. I’m going to keep…[Read more]

@DanaNM that’s so tragic I’m sorry for your loss. It seems like some bunnies just have conditions we can’t see or predict beforehand. I’m trying to look for a bunny to foster or adopt but unfortunately all I keep thinking about is how perfect Madam was. I tried looking for spayed Holland lops in my area( DC Metro) but no luck . Maybe this is a wa…[Read more]

Well he got worse during the night, so we managed to get him in to a different vet first thing & they have said he’s got kidney failure & might not make it through today.
They’ve admitted him to their hospital to try & stabilise him before any next steps can be decided.
All we can do now is wait & hope. Thanks for all the replies, they have…[Read more]

Just because there is a potential for future ear infections doesn’t necessarily mean it will become an issue. I would hold off and see what happens, he might be just fine. I think your vet is jumping the gun here, especially considering how expensive the procedure is.

As said above, you were doing the right thing. Unfortunately, horrible things happen, where we most often have no one to blame, and mistakingly chose ourselves. It was most certainly not your fault! You did everything any of us here could have done and more. You sound very responsible, kind, empathetic, and a wonderful rabbit…[Read more]

Thank you so much for the quick response! I will seperate them as soon as I can. Also, since they free roam there isn’t much spaces that are neutral besides the bathroom. I saw online some people use the bathtub or the sink. Do you think that would be alright?

DanaNM replied to the topic How to rebond Please help!! in the forum BONDING 5 years, 6 months ago
You should wait until both bunnies are spayed and their hormones have had time to settle before working on bonding them. At this point their hormones will keep getting in the way of the bond forming properly, so best to just keep them separated for now. Unfortunately this is a common thing that happens when babies are put together. They get…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Bunny suddenly always annoyed/angry at her mate in the forum BONDING 5 years, 6 months ago
You’re welcome! Unfortunately in my case I opted not to try rebonding them, it just didn’t seem like they were going to be a good match as they had never really been close even before the fighting. Things went from zero to 60 with their fight so I just felt like I would never trust them again anyway!
