Urine scald is not normal in a healthy rabbit and is very painful. He could have a UTI, arthritis, E cuniculi (which can cause incontinence), or even a kidney problem.
You need to change his set up so he stays clean and dry, and see a vet to see what’s causing this. I had an incontinent senior and it really helped to putting down washable pee…[Read more]

He is 7 years old. I have been watching for arthritis in both my buns but no signs of it, his eating is fine but he tends to drink a lot of water, and he still plays around, runs, and binkys like usual.

How old is he? Sometimes these types of problems are associated with arthritis.

Hi, it’s been a while so I wanted to update – January 5 his weight had dropped to 3.96lbs and he was falling over when leaving his cage or litter box and couldn’t get up on his own. It was very bleak but we switched him to Emeraid that night and within 2-3 days he wasn’t falling over any more and was gaining weight. It’s been all up hill from…[Read more]

I agree. The only “home remedy” would be a warm compress or saline eye drops. If the irritation persists, then you should consult your vet. It could be an infection or something more serious.

I am moving states this summer after my hs graduation and unfortunately my new apartment will only accept one pet. Hello! I have a rabbit who despises being touched and is also an outdoor rabbit (he has a safe enclosure). Recently, he has been a little more accident-prone, peeing in his crate and the weather has also been dewy, so his bottom gets messy when he plays. I’ve also noticed a urine scald. The problem is he is not the type of rabbit who likes to be…[Read more]

Perhaps it got irritated by some hay dust?
You could try a warm compress or some clean saline drops. If it persists I would recommend having it checked out by a vet, especially since it’s already been a few days.

hello everyone,
I’ve noticed for a few days that my rabbit’s eye looks alittle red and irritated. She’s not bothered by it, she still sleeps, eats and poops normally.
I was wondering if there were any at home remedies I could try to help.

I’m very sorry BZOO, that’s really rough to be dealing with all of that at once. 🙁
I do hope your husband can keep helping with the buns.

You could try tapering off the gabapentin first and then the meloxicam, just so he’s not stopped all of them cold turkey?
