Hello everyone, Loki my Lionhead and myself are new here and have already learned a lot. I have wondered myself if I am doing anything wrong in winning him over. I have had the pleasure of his presence since Jan 28th 2021 and apparently he was born on Aug 15th 2020. Loki will come to us if we have pellets and sometimes without. I will sit on…[Read more]

I’m glad she’s better, poor thing. When Oscar has tummy troubles he doesn’t bother using the litterbox either.

Thank you Andi. At 7 years old he was about as old as ferrets usually get to be. He also had insulinoma which causes low blood sugar. He was doing well on his medications, but that night his blood sugar crashed and I couldn’t turn it around. We woke up to his screams and it didn’t get any better after that. It was horrible. I had hoped he would…[Read more]

Thank you, that sets my mind at ease! It is a small detail, I just want to make sure I don’t do something stupid!

Yes, I think a vet assessment is a safe call.

This happened last night. Roughly 12 hours. She still hops up on her little ledge that’s in her enclosure. She will put some weight on it now but I can tell she is still being cautious. She is free roam unless we leave the house, but I am keeping her in the enclosure right now to minimize any more harm. I’m going to call the vet and see if they…[Read more]

How long has it been? Sometimes rabbits inevitably harm themselves with their spurts of energy. I would say if it has been an hour or more and the leg is still not weight bearing, I would go to the vet for assessment. I have had my rabbit keep one of his paws lifted after a poor landing, but in about 10 minutes, he was using it like normal.

Hello, I have a 4 month old mini Holland lop. She was doing zoomies around the living room last night and I think she hit her leg against the baseboard heater and her enclosure. (There’s a 6 inch gap and she and her litter mate love running behind it) She started limping shortly after. She puts minimal pressure on her back leg. She is still…[Read more]

Thank you for the idea. I’m definitely going to try that, but can the ink in the phone books be toxic to them? Also if I get one of those cardboard cat scratchers should I avoid cat nip or if it’s safe/enjoyable for buns ? I’ll have to do some more research. I was also thinking of providing her with a digging box with some eco earth/ clean top s…[Read more]

Even neutered rabbit often get a bit of “March hare syndrome” this time of year. It’s due to the return of the light and the days getting longer. They can get something similar in the fall, but it’s as a rule more marked in the spring.
It’s normal, and it subsides after a few weeks. While its going on, the rabbit can be very energetic, pee- and…[Read more]

Yes he is neutered, so it must have been the sudden change that brought it on. This morning he is much better!

That is a pretty small detail, so I don’t think it matters. Unless one is going to lash out at the body of the other as you put them in the small space– but if they are that aggressive with each other, I don’t think you’d want to approach bonding that way at this time, haha.

Changing scenery does make the environment somewhat “new”. I have to rabbits who free-roam with each other and when I re-arrange things, there is some tension that happens between them as they seem to navigate a “new space”.
Is he neutered? Many of these behaviors align with a hormonal rabbit and are very natural.

Hello everyone, I’m about to attempt bonding Betty and Herman again. 3rd works like a charm? I’ve everything set up now but my question is as I’m doing this on my own, which rabbit do I put in the tiny space first? I really can’t tell whose the dominant one but I think its probably Betty as she’s older, bigger, female and Herman has licked her a…[Read more]

Thank you for your response!
Actually, Smokey is doing a lot better now. I did give her a dose of Smithicone, and some tummy rubs which got a lot of gas out. And she’s eating!! 😀 😀 Yay!!
I’ll definitely be spending the night with her though, just to be sure. 🙂
Thank you again!!
