Neurotic bunny mom replied to the topic Bloat or gas? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 5 months ago
I’ve read that article, it’s really good, but the thing is that when he had it, his stomach felt really soft, just slightly bloated, by the end of the day at the clinic it looked liked he had swallowed a balloon and his stomach still felt pretty soft, he also looked really relaxed, laying stretched out and everything so this is very confusing to…[Read more]

It doesn’t look real bad. Perhaps some memory foam bath mats would help cushion his foot.

True bloat is when the stomach rapidly fills with gas and becomes distended. The stomach will feel hard. The condition is extremely painful and rabbits are often euthanized when suffering from it. I’m not sure what the problem was with your bunny the first time around, but a soft belly doesn’t match up with true bloat. When it’s “just gas”, there…[Read more]

I was going to suggest a fresh grass. Wheatgrass (aka cat grass) is perfect. For dry hay, you could try orchard grass. It tends to be softer.

Hi! My bunny recently had to go through surgery because his stomach was bloated, he was very active and eating well at the day this happened, binking around and all, he ate and an hour after that I offered him a treat and he didn’t want, I thought that was strange and took him to the vet right away, he had an xray that showed that his stomach w…[Read more]

Sometimes buns will get a little more territorial when a new bun arrives, so she might be prone to tempers more easily. 🙁 Sorry she’s acting up!
As you said, maybe moving T into somewhere where M can’t see/smell him would be best for now, since he isn’t yet neutered. (I forgot about that! lol ) After buns get fixed, usually their smells will…[Read more]

A general rule is that the temp difference between outdoors and indoors temp shouldnt be over 10 degrees C (18 degrees F) plus or minus.
If the rabbit is only going to be outside for sth like 15 minutes, the temp diff can be a bit bigger. (Some buns really enjoy to go out and dig around in snow).
It’s important to not let the bun pig out on…[Read more]

If you’re willing to make a bit of a drive, I would highly recommend SEAVS in Fairfax. We used them for 8 years (until we moved to TX) and they were always wonderful. We had two of our bunnies fixed there (the other three were already fixed when we adopted them) and everything went very smoothly. They are also great with updating you on the co…[Read more]

Phew! That’s reassuring. So nothing to worry about? Today M started grunting and circling my feet when I walk around, and also bit my husband. We were wondering if it might be best to move T into the bedroom where she doesn’t go for the time being, to keep them completely separate. I’m totally new to bonding and I know it’s a fragile…[Read more]

I really want to take my bunny out as spring is almost here but I’m not sure exactly what would be too warm or cold being outside.
