He gets 1/2 cup veggies at 7 am in the mornings, 1/8 cup of pellets at around 11 am, and 1/2 cup veggies at 5:30 pm. After that sometimes around 12 am I see him eating hay.

Hello all,
I found a bunny at a local rescue who I am possibly going to adopt. I had a zoom meeting with his foster family that went well! He’s a Californian rabbit and looks like such a sweetie.
He is mostly litter trained but still is pooping outside the litter box (he’s 8 months) My only concern is that he is going to be my roommate lol and I…[Read more]

Oh no, poor Wick! Rabbits are wiggly things sometimes, so don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s hard because pain management and confinement really is all you can do. I don’t even know if they could splint that successfully.

Agreed, there’s no rush. I would say this is actually a good thing. Teenage hormones play a big part in healthy development, so the fact that he gets to stay intact for a little while longer and let his hormones do their thing is great. Most of the time, the hormonal behaviors make this more or less impossible. I’m glad he’s behaving himself,…[Read more]

Aww, poor Wick. 🙁 Sometimes these things happen unfortunately. I hope he won’t take the confinement too hard, and will heal quickly. Managing the pain meds can be a balancing act, we don’t want them to be in pain but also not feeling so well that they are too active. Sending lots of healing vibes!
I fractured my middle finger in a bowling…[Read more]

I wanted to post about a recent, ongoing experience with my Wick.
Unfortunately, Wick had a bad landing while being handled. He fell 5ft and tumbled into an NIC grid against a wall (we use for rabbit-proofing). He stopped putting weight on his left front paw immediately– no other abnormalities seen. It was 9PM and while staying up until 11:30PM…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Small sore on Maurice's lip! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 5 months ago
I’m unsure what that might be, but sores around/in the mouth is associated with rabbit syphilis, which is a treatable condition. As a young rabbit, it would have been something his mother was carrying and it was naturally passed on. If it is syphilis and is becoming symptomatic, you would need vet intervention to ensure the sores/blisters are…[Read more]

At what time(s) and how much non-hay food items does he get? It’s common for rabbits to prefer other food items above hay, so if they are a bit more prevalent or spaced out in certain ways daily, it can impact hay eating.

Hello, every bun!
I have a 6-month-old bun who eats hay but not that much as I’m told they do. His poops are sometimes small but sometimes normal so I really want to encourage him to eat hay. I have 2 hay feeders 1 in the litter box and one outside the litter box. I also put some oregano on his hay which also encourages him but then he’ll just…[Read more]

My bunny is also very bored throughout the day and he does have toys and hideouts but he doesn’t play with them. I have tried out organic palm leaf bowls and my bunny loves those even though he isn’t much of a chewer so yeah I totally recommend organic palm leaf bowls😉. Btw you can get these off Amazon!

There’s no rush, health wise. Most, if not all, intact buns will get spring fever in early spring, when the light starts to return. It tends to subside, at least to an extent. It sounds great that he isnt spraying now! Spraying is pretty much the least nice thing about bunny puberty.

Hello everyone!
So I have been working on free roaming and I’m having some chewing issues with my 6 month old mini rex. So far he has been pretty much ignoring any fabric furniture (such as the couch for example) and mainly seems to be interested electrical wires and anything wooden that he can get his mouth on. I am going to get wire p…[Read more]

Hi, thank you all for the replies.
I haven’t got him fixed yet as all my vets are booked till June, but he has stopped with the circling and honking and is currently 6 months old. I’m very happy he isn’t spraying at all and is litter-trained😪 Moreover, he doesn’t show any aggression or destructiveness so I hope it stays like this. I still do want…[Read more]

I’m going to try the nic grids. I was thinking of getting a kiddie pool and to add clean soil(nothing added) or to use eco earth. Does anyone know if it can be toxic/enjoyable to bunnies? I want to get her a stuffed animal too🥺 I was also thinking of getting a very light misting bottle for when she does something bad. (Like a light light mist, n…[Read more]

Are you using the add media feature to upload photos?
Hmm… what you’re describing is very interesting and puzzling. I’m glad your bunny is feeling better now. I would be concerned though too if his stomach filled up with gas like that. Bloat is not a common condition, so it probably wouldn’t hurt to take another x-ray. Perhaps the vet can…[Read more]
