Thanks for the update! I’m so glad he has improved since getting the antibiotic. 🙂

Thank you so much for replying again. The rabbits are both absolutely fine and behaving normally, even if there’s some bald patches! I’m the one who’s most upset by what happened this morning, so I’m going to wait a few days and then try the larger space. I also think the 1 minute idea is good as they managed that before starting to fight!

Thank you both for responding! I feel so much better now that he’s doing better. Will call the vet and see what he recommends then.
Wick – It would be great if it’s the Baytril that’s making his pee still slightly dark!
Last night and today he seems so much more like his normal self. I’m over the moon with his recovery.

nico started the topic why is my rabbit suddenly bacame lazy? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 5 months ago
I adopted my rabbit about 3 months ago and for the first two and a half months she was really active … she ran around the house, on my bed, and played with me and her toys. For two weeks now all she has been doing is sleeping, getting out of her space for a few minutes, eating and that’s it. Even in her toys she hardly touches more … what…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Dealing with anticipatory grief: grieving for your pet who's still alive in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 5 years, 5 months ago
I would reflect that the more distress we feel in anticipating an unfortunate outcome, the more we care. It’s so natural and is something that unfortunately accompanies the relationships we care about most. That being said, caring and distressing grief do not need to be tied together when that time comes.
Initially, some can feel “guilty” when…[Read more]

We have two upcoming appointments scheduled for check-ins at 1 week and 2 weeks later. In case people find it interesting ( I did), here is the xray, showing the fractured finger. It is the 3rd finger on the left paw, near the base of that finger:

Wick is on and off of when he seems more comfortable putting some weight on it. It may involve…[Read more]

Agreed about the sheet — it eliminated the bar puling for my rabbits:
Make sure it’s hung on the outside so the rabbit doesn’t use the fabric to climb up or chew on.

These are heavy thoughts, Ellie. I think I can relate. My dog Effi had a bad back problem that manifested acutely when she wasn’t even 9. After that, I knew I had her on borrowed time. Medication together with some (simpler) life style changes gave her more than 2 high quality years with me, before she deterioriated quite suddenly and I knew had…[Read more]

“our hearts love with the understanding that they may be broken one day. And it’s worth it.”
What a beautiful statement! And so true!

I would really just give a large space a try. There is no one way to bond rabbits, and even though small spaces can and do work, to me it seems like it isn’t working very well for your buns as they escalate to fighting so quickly. Bonders at rescues are also much more experienced in knowing when to intervene, so for a new bonder, larger spaces can…[Read more]

Sometimes hanging a towel or sheet over the fence where he is chewing can help a lot!
