Yes, it’s absolutely worth it! We are still growing closer every day.

Last time I was at the vet with Breintje I asked them if there was a senior check-up, but there wasn’t one for rabbits. Rheumatism was on my mind too because I have it as well, and I’m so thankful for my meds! They don’t make it go away but they take the edge off the pain.

    The…[Read more]

How old is she? Is she still eating and pooping normally? Bunnies often transition into a lazier existence as the mature. So if she is young, that may explain it. She may also just be more comfortable in her environment now that she has lived with you for 3 months. If she is still eating and pooping normally, I wouldn’t be overly worried.

Thanks for the update! I’m so glad he has improved since getting the antibiotic. 🙂

Thank you so much for replying again. The rabbits are both absolutely fine and behaving normally, even if there’s some bald patches! I’m the one who’s most upset by what happened this morning, so I’m going to wait a few days and then try the larger space. I also think the 1 minute idea is good as they managed that before starting to fight!

Thank you both for responding! I feel so much better now that he’s doing better. Will call the vet and see what he recommends then.

Wick – It would be great if it’s the Baytril that’s making his pee still slightly dark!

Last night and today he seems so much more like his normal self. I’m over the moon with his recovery.

I adopted my rabbit about 3 months ago and for the first two and a half months she was really active … she ran around the house, on my bed, and played with me and her toys. For two weeks now all she has been doing is sleeping, getting out of her space for a few minutes, eating and that’s it. Even in her toys she hardly touches more … what…[Read more]

I would reflect that the more distress we feel in anticipating an unfortunate outcome, the more we care. It’s so natural and is something that unfortunately accompanies the relationships we care about most. That being said, caring and distressing grief do not need to be tied together when that time comes.

Initially, some can feel “guilty” when…[Read more]

We have two upcoming appointments scheduled for check-ins at 1 week and 2 weeks later. In case people find it interesting ( I did), here is the xray, showing the fractured finger. It is the 3rd finger on the left paw, near the base of that finger:

Wick is on and off of when he seems more comfortable putting some weight on it. It may involve…[Read more]

Agreed about the sheet — it eliminated the bar puling for my rabbits:

Make sure it’s hung on the outside so the rabbit doesn’t use the fabric to climb up or chew on.

These are heavy thoughts, Ellie. I think I can relate. My dog Effi had a bad back problem that manifested acutely when she wasn’t even 9. After that, I knew I had her on borrowed time. Medication together with some (simpler) life style changes gave her more than 2 high quality years with me, before she deterioriated quite suddenly and I knew had…[Read more]
