This is Elm. She came to me nearly 3 years ago with her sister from a friend who couldn’t keep them. We sadly found Oak (her sister) dead one morning after about 6 months.
Because Elm was on her own I tried to spend as much time with her as possible, seeing her 2 or 3 times a day and sitting with her for a while every evening, when she enjoyed…[Read more]

If he was bonded before then we know he’s a normal bunny (there are the odd bunnies who just don’t want a friend). I would say it isn’t really too soon as long as the buns you’re looking at are neutered. If not maybe the shelter can neuter one and keep him for you for a couple/few weeks until you can bring him home to do prebonding? If not it’s…[Read more]

Please try not to worry.
When corn kernels become popcorn, the corn kernels burst because the starchy contents expand when heated. A bun will survive eating pop corns. It’s not an ideal food for buns, but its not outright lethal. It’s very wise to avoid feeding rabbits whole dried corn kernels, but I have a bun who lived on rabbit muesli mix…[Read more]

Rabbits ideally shouldn’t be fixed until they’re fully grown to allow the skeleton to develop properly. This is especially important for giant breeds like Flemmies because of their weight, they don’t stop growing until they’re 9-12 months old. Early neutering can cause developmental abnormalities which can in turn cause issues like hip dysplasia,…[Read more]

So last night I must’ve fallen asleep with the popcorn bag that shuffled and fell over to around my buns pen. It doesn’t look like she got any, it was like an inch away from her cage. I’m paranoid some could’ve gotten in her cage or a lot could’ve spilled near her and she could’ve eaten it. I don’t see any evidence in her cage but after reading…[Read more]

Ive seen similar mucus in my bun’s poop. He was prescribed 5 days of metronidazole (an antibiotic) and it went away with that.
Mucus in poop may just mean the intestinal lining is irritated.

Ah, yuck, that’s always a mess… Sadly bunnies can get very upset when something changes in their environment, but it doesn’t have to mean she’s upset with you. It’s just that bunnies don’t cope well with change. Even fixed bunnies will often have a lapse in habits when a major change happens.
Picture it like this: a rabbit is all about…[Read more]

Soak sticks in juice. Place in oven for 10-15 mins at 350 degrees. This will keep them from moulding.

Hi there, I am new to this group and I don’t have an answer to your question, but I can say that when we introduced our two bunnies they did not like each other at all at first and fought a lot. We introduced them in neutral territory like we were supposed to but it took a few weeks before we could actually leave them alone together. Now they c…[Read more]

Wow that is interesting about EC. He has had a little bit of a head tilt and also his right ear falls to the right quite frequently. And I have noticed his eyes look a little “glazed” for lack of a better word. I will definitely talk to the new vet about these things. Thanks for bringing those possibilities to my attention.
