I have brother bunnies that are now 6 months old. I have had them since they were 8 weeks. They have always been together in the same room in side by side pens and switched every day. 5 weeks after nuetering them I started binding. I followed the neutral area small and gradually adding space and time. It took about two weeks and then 48 hour…[Read more]

Hi, thanks for the response.
I haven’t done car rides, and I’m thinking they might not help because as of now, when I go to pick Snoopy up after a session he runs to her for help and tries to snuggle in lol. So I do think he sometimes sees her as protection already. And really he hadn’t been tooooo aggressive.. just a lot of one bites (ripping…[Read more]

Oh man, I’m sorry you have been having a tough go of it! It sounds like the closet is working out well for them though! And I agree, there are enough positives that I would want to keep going as well. It’s interesting he gets so upset with the mounting, even with them both grooming each other a lot, but it sounds like they will get there…[Read more]

Hi, I thought I’d put up an update here, since unfortunately things haven’t been going as smooth as I hoped. There were a couple of set backs with injuries, so this now will be my most difficult bond probably, out of the 3 I’ve done. We are on 2 months now. I am still hopeful they will bond though, especially over the last couple days.
Basically…[Read more]

It really depends on the bunny. The others are correct. Some bunnies just take a REALLY long time to warm up to people. This can be the result of their past, or they simply have a skittish personality, or both. Rabbits are prey animals, so it is natural for them to fear us at least to some degree.
I don’t think you should give up. But I do think…[Read more]

I will also add that some gas in the stomach is just a natural consequence of life. Encouraging movement and hay eating are easy ways to just help facilitate a rabbit do what their (and our) bodies are designed to do, which is release a natural amount of gas if the stomach is feeling a bit icky.

Patience is key. Boo was a shelter bun, picked up as a stray. I can only imagine her fear when she was captured, let alone when she was trying to survive in the “wild”.
It took about two years to really see a difference in how she felt about me.
Now, she is still a no touch bun, but her fear of the world is gone. Every night when it is ti…[Read more]

I agree you don’t want to completely stop spending time with them, I was more suggesting to not feel like it had to be scheduled strictly, if that makes sense? And spending time in the room with them still counts as spending time with them and should help them get over some of their fear as well. I hope clicker training is fun for you and them!…[Read more]

Hello Datbun, we ask members not to reply to old threads to avoid confusion. This thread was started 12 years ago, so it’s very unlikely the original poster will see the response. I will lock this thread now to avoid confusion.

Okay, that’s good to hear. I was thinking exactly along the same lines — she’s doing great right now. I’lol keep an eye on her over the weekend and if anything recurs I will take her to the vet straight away to get a proper check up. Thank you so much!

I appreciate the kind words. It is putting pressure on my and I assume them as well, though all the advice I see is “more time on there level” so I am fearful that if I stop spending time with them, things will only get worse. My partner and I spend a good amount of time in the room with them, though its a larger room so I am not sure if they even…[Read more]

Shedding can def cause some GI issues, it’s pretty common for buns to have GI episodes during molting, even when it seems like they haven’t ingested much hair. She could have some hair in her gut that is working it’s way through. I think if she is improving it’s OK to monitor her and keep up the massages and simethicone, but if it happens again I…[Read more]

Hello! My 1 year old Holland Lop named Kiwi is a spayed female. So far, she has been in excellent health despite a bought of worms one year ago which cleared quickly after a vet visit. However, two nights ago I noticed her being extremely lethargic and unresponsive to her name when I came home from work. She refused food/treats. Long story…[Read more]

LOL 😆 I would take him to the vet to have them assess. Sometimes older buns will “suck” their testicles back up when nervous. At any rate sometimes it can take a while to get an appointment for neutering so might as well start the process.
He is very likely older than 1 month because they stay with their mom until 2 months. Hormonal b…[Read more]

Rabbits can catch human illnesses such as strep throat, the flu, and COVID-19, but COVID-19 is technically not a “human illness” as it can affect any living thing, cases have even been found in fish, but still your lil bunny can catch a lot of human illnesses, the only way to prevent that is to be hygienic, keep up with you and your buns vaccines,…[Read more]

Does anyone know what healing looks like for sore hocks?
My senior bun has a bald patch on the bottom of his front paw like a toe pad that’s been red, swollen and inflammed. I’ve been back and forth to the vet the past 2 months with it looking better than worse again.
He just finished 1 week of sulfa antibiotics and 2 weeks ago started taking…[Read more]
