I agree with LBJ10, I wouldn’t worry about it at all. I think it’s best to avoid strong fragrances as those could be irritating to a bun. I currently use All free and Clear, in the past I used a Costco-brand “natural” one. I’m sure the tide free and clear is fine. I do add vinegar to all of my wash as well as I think it helps things get cleaner.

Ugh Now I’m just venting. Got them back in the closet this afternoon hoping they could just sleep a bit together and keep growing their connection, but Pancake starting off more mounty than ever, Snoopy bit her cheek pulling (thankfully) just a small amount of fur. She was upset but did not stop her from trying more later. They finally settled…[Read more]

I don’t think dye and fragrance free detergent is harmful. You could rinse twice on the laundry cycle too, just to make sure it’s all gone. But personally, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Update on my boys. Today is day 7 of bonding in this large bathroom. We are up to 8 hours together. Both grooming and snuggling each other. Not as much chasing going on. Really not any aggressive behaviors. Binking and crazies don’t seem to set either of them off. I plan to move them to another neutral area tomorrow but in a pen that will a…[Read more]

I’m trying to talk my parents in to washing the bunnies blankets and I was wondering if laundry detergent is safe. What my parents use is Tide free and gentle laundry pods and I’ve seen people use Arm&Hammer but there have been people saying not to use laundry detergent since it’s unsafe and they use vinegar instead. Is this one of those…[Read more]

Sounds great to me! I think erring on the side of more interaction with them and making them feel safe and happy is good at first. Anytime there isn’t aggression is positive in my book 🙂

Hello! I currently have a pair of buns (fixed m&f) Bonnie and Clyde, who I love to call my spicy beans 🥰. They are a sassy bunch and love shoving humans around, but love one another. Then I got a mini rex boy off craiglist (por thing was being offered for free and she didn’t want him to live outside a small cage 😬) he got his snip just over 4…[Read more]

That sounds like a very good sign! Both the ignoring and that they put their heads together so you could pet them. I dont think you messed anything up at all.

Hi guys! We’ve been trying to bond our two sister bunnies for a while, but kept getting interrupted. We’ve been switching their stuff and pens every day, and put up a clear divider where they can smell each other through. Last night, we got them into a new neutral space (the other one was contaminated from previous attempts). They ignored each…[Read more]

Well after a week, we aren’t too much better off. I’ve logged a lot of hours. I did switch Saturday to 2x per day to break up the sessions since they do fine when they are sleepy and I feel like the more awake hours to re-direct her mounting the quicker it might go? Plus it seems better for me 🙂 I had a lot of time to analyze them in my head and…[Read more]

I think I may have deleted my thread I had going in here. I am hoping my post from last night still shows. In case not, the short is I am now on my 6th day of bonding my 6 month brother bunnies. This is my third attempt to bind them after they got neutered. Sounds like I maybe didn’t see a solid bond yet like I thought before and it was too s…[Read more]

Oh, they are wild bunnies and feral cats? Ah… yes, I would say trapping the cats would be the best solution then. Not only do feral cats harm wildlife and spread disease, they live miserable lives as well.

Thank you! I did keep them in for another two hours that day and they did fine. Just needed space to cool off and then they went back to loving. Today I did 6 hours again and they did great. I am planning to add hide boxes that have two entries. They are brand new and I was wondering if I put them in and all goes well, can I use the boxes in their…[Read more]

If no bun is injured then keep going! Those types of little issues are actually important to find because buns can get spooked in normal life, and in a bonded pair they should run to each other for comfort and not have it start a fight. It does sound like you are making progress so keep up the good work!

My interpretation was that there are wild rabbits but feral domestic cats, so I was thinking trapping the cats would help the buns.
