Yes, thanks Ellie! The hay tea queen!
If Dorian has gotten worse and you end up reading this in the middle of the night (which I hope he has improved!), I second that keeping him warm is important. You can place a water bottle wrapped in a towel near him, so he can cuddle it if he needs to. When Bun Jovi was really poorly on a Sunday night a few…[Read more]

A_Rob started the topic Does it take this long to bond with a rabbit? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 4 months ago
I adopted a 1 year old female bunny in September 2020. I had her spayed by December and she is the only pet I have. I knew bonding would be a lengthly process but I am starting to think she either does not like me or prefers to be alone.
I keep her in a large bedroom, which doubles as my office area. I work from home so most of the time, while I…[Read more]

I’m sorry no one responded to this! How is your bunny doing now?
I think bunnies can go through phases of being more mellow, or they may get a little bored with their environment. Maybe you could give her some enrichment toys for feeding times?

Also for giving oral fluids, I have a much easier time using the 1 mL syringes (thanks for the tip Moonlightbunny).
Can you take his temp?

If he pooped, I wouldn’t be worried about a blockage. I am not a vet, but personally I would syringe feed. It doesn’t need to be a ton, but you could do a few mL and see how he responds. Since you said he’s molting he prob just has some excess fur he needs to push through. I would keep up the tummy rubs and do another dose of simethicone.
If you…[Read more]

Sounds like you’re doing everything you can from home, poor little guy. 🙁 Fingers crossed he keeps perking up.

Aw, that’s always so awful! About the simethicone: it’s difficult to get it into their mouths because they struggle so much. Breintje struggles so much that the liquid hangs off his whiskers in gloopy drops, like he’s just fallen into a plate of porridge. Sometimes I’m SO done with that bun that I put a drop on each of his front paws instead.…[Read more]

Hi! good to know it’s nothing to worry about. Yes I forgot to mention he eats lots of hay. I refill his multiple litterboxes daily and mix in flowers with it. I guess he just likes the taste haha! Thank you!

Make sure he keeps warm. In my experience, rabbits tend to get cold ears when they’re experiencing tummy trouble. (Cold ears can have other causes, during other circumstances, but they are an indication that the bun is trying to preserve body heat.) You can give him a warm waterbottle to help him keep warm, but dont force it on him.
Gentle (very…[Read more]

Dorian has been hunkered down with what look like a tummy ache for a bit, not sure how long as I was out running errands and I got home 2 hours ago. I gave him simethecone a little after I got home and he shot out a bunch of pellets. I thought maybe that would be the end of it as he got them out, but he is not showing much signs of recovery. I…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for the late reply! I found my notification in a spam folder. I did have a lionhead named Pacey!
Mr. Bit has settled nicely. He’s a little sassy butt. He still hates the leash but he deals with it. He’s made it a little easier dealing with my dad’s passing. Training is still a bit tricky he has extremely selective hearing lol.

I understand, I know it’s been really hard for people to book spays and neuters with the pandemic.
I’m just re-reading the thread on your issues with their poops. So do they basically get weird poops anytime you give them pellets or veggies?
If they can’t tolerate pellets right now, you could feed them a combo of alfalfa hay with their grass hay…[Read more]

I am trying to get them fixed ASAP. It’s hard to get it done as there are few rabbit savvy vets where I am and the ones who are good are all booked up. I am worried about these babies… I just want them to be happy and healthy.
