My 4.5 year old lionhead Phoebe had been acting kind of lethargic/extra sleepy for a few days now. Otherwise she is eating, drinking, pooping, and grooming herself 100% normal. She is still getting super excited at feeding time. However for the last few days it seems like she’s spending most of her time just sleeping, either flopping down or sitting in a little loaf. She’s clearly very comfortable and showing absolutely no signs of pain or discomfort. After getting up from a nap she will do a huge yawn and stretch, and doesn’t seem to have any signs of body pain or anything concerning. She is still acting very affectionate. Should I be concerned or can they sometimes just go through phases of boredom like this? Or potentially she is just slowing down as she gets older? She has a few ongoing health issues which I do think have taken a toll on her over the years.

Phoebe had both eyes removed 2 years ago now due to health issues, and ever since she doesn’t seem to have a good sense of time/working internal clock. Because of this she doesn’t keep to the typical dawn/dust active periods like other rabbits and can kind of be all over the place. I guess it’s possible she’s suddenly more active overnight while I sleep but I don’t think so.  She was just at the vet about 6 weeks ago for a wellness check which went great and her blood work came back normal, so I’m hoping I’m just a little paranoid and there’s nothing to worry about here.

        Thank you all!

I’m sorry no one responded to this! How is your bunny doing now?

I think bunnies can go through phases of being more mellow, or they may get a little bored with their environment. Maybe you could give her some enrichment toys for feeding times?
