I was reading something recently that there is also a link between EC (potentially asymptomatic to us) and issues with calcium. Since EC can damage the kidneys, it can disrupt their ability to excrete excess calcium, so it collects. I will try to find the articles and share, I thought it was very interesting.

Oh yeah, sounds like something has upset their bond. In the case of a real injury it’s best to separate and give things some time to settle down, then resume in neutral territory and see where you stand.

I would absolutely recommend taking him to a rabbit-experienced vet, which would be an “exotic vet”. A healthy rabbit should not be having constant wet poops and swollen/raw genital regions — it sounds like there is something going on that requires professional assessment and treatment.
Can you describe your rabbit’s diet?

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁
Rabbits cope with loss in different ways. It sounds like you are doing all the right things so far. Just spending extra time with him (even if you aren’t interacting that much) is one of the best things.
You might consider getting a “stuffy” surrogate for Cinnabun. Some bunnies will snuggle and groom the stuffy,…[Read more]

I have a 4yr old male dwarf fuzzy lop bunny, he constantly has wet poops and they do fall off or we clean them off him. As we were checking his bottom to make sure he was clean, there was a huge mess of wet poop and as we cleaned him up we noticed his genital area was very swollen and raw. Is this something I should take him to the vet about? Or…[Read more]

I was hoping the weight loss would at least plateau. So to read that there was a gain already is great! I hope it continues. (((Luna)))
When Maple fell really ill with head-tilt, the weight loss was rapid but regain was slow. It took a couple months for her to look healthy again.
Re foods, I suppose the safe bet it to moderately increase…[Read more]

That’s so sad :'( I’m sorry for the loss of your companion.
There are some things you may do for Cinnabun that can help him with this difficult time. I work with touch, skin contact and massages a lot, and most rabbits I know find it very relaxing to be massaged. There are several websites and books about bunny massage, I hope that his condition…[Read more]

Good morning!
I’ve never had a bonded pair of rabbits together so this is going to be just my loose suggestions — but would it maybe help to get him like a blanket or perhaps a stuffed animal that he can sit by or groom? ((Just only offer it to him when monitored so that he doesn’t ingest anything he isn’t supposed to.) I would suggest to keep…[Read more]

My Ollie will get very offended if my parakeets start squawking or if I start up the vacuum cleaner.
Additionally, if I am not there the second he demands more food — even if there’s still a suitable amount in the bowl — he will grab the bowl in his mouth and flip the whole thing over, making pellets fly EVERYWHERE and all over not only his…[Read more]

The safest thing is to rotate greens. If a bun has normal bladder functi9n, the surplus calcium will be peed out. Rabbits are different from most other mammals in that they absorb all dietary calcium, regardless of the presence of vitamin D (In humans, dogs and most other mammals, calcium uptake from the small intestine is tighly regulated by…[Read more]

Yay for no weight loss and bigger poops!
Measuring water consumption again sounds wise!

Hi all,
I lost one of my two bonded buns this week very quickly and unexpectedly. While I’m mourning and all that myself, my main focus is on his littermate and brother that I still have. He has never been without his brother for more than a day when he got hospitalized. I’m aware that as hard as this is on me, it’ll be harder on him. I’m…[Read more]

I’m not sure if it’s the panacur or the metacam, but Luna’s poops are bigger today. Not full sized but bigger than they were.
I booked the appointment for next week with the other vet as recommended. Will give me time to see how she progresses this week, and I’m considering separating them again for 24 hours this weekend to measure water intake…[Read more]

Yeah the link doesn’t work for me either, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read this before. I guess I’m just being too paranoid about what veggies to feed my bun and accidentally causing bludder sludge. Thank you so much!
