ALRyder started the topic Bunny Manure? in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 4 months ago
Has anyone here used bunny manure in their gardens? I saw a post on Facebook the other day requesting bunny manure. This got me curious and I did some research. Apparently, it’s really good for your plants and doesn’t need time to sit like a lot of other manures. I’m just curious if anyone else here has collected their rabbit’s droppings for this…[Read more]

ALRyder replied to the topic Nothing will stop buns from destroying carpet, pee pads, and blankets. in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 4 months ago
I clicked on this because I’ve been having the same issues recently. The cat scratcher would probably be a great idea for my buns because he loves to destroy his cardboard box in his cage. I might also put something in my room that is more anchored for him to tug on in my bedroom (that’s where he does most of his free-roaming and we inevitably…[Read more]

Saline drops for babies are fine for buns! Try rinsing and wiping with a clean tissue along the lower eyelid, (not on the eyeball itself, the wiping is just to help clearing the eye), lightly, towards the inner corner of the eye.
Rinsing will not hurt anything but he might get a bit miffed at first, but nothing a treat wont fix!

I know I’m late to the game, but I have to say your new bunny is stinkin’ adorable. And I really liked the name Cosmo. What name did you decide on?

ALRyder replied to the topic just a small rant about my bunny in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 4 months ago
I thought about buying my buns, Detective Snicker, a cushy bed, then seeing how he treats his cardboard box (not to mention my carpet) I thought better of it. All night every night is a shredding, digging, ripping fest with him. Whenever my husband falls asleep on the couch he wakes up to the sound of Snicker “redecorating”.

Are pellets most preferred by the average bunny owner? And why? We use paper litter mixed with newspaper, have a grate over that (which your buns probably wouldn’t like on her feet any more than the pellets), then I put a little hay on top to cushion a bit. I think the idea of putting a thin layer of paper litter is a great one in your case.

Omg I totally missed the part about the vet holding the bun by the ears! Definitely find a new vet!
if you search for exotics or small animal vets you will hopefully find one.
That said the bun looks quite young, so it could be the ears starting to ‘lop’

I noticed there’s a thin little hair in Timothy’s eye and I’m not sure what to do? He stayed pretty still while I tried to get a closer look and took a pic but I wasn’t able to get it out. That was about half an hour ago when I was in class. I checked again just now, I think it’s pushed back in his eye or something, I can’t tell as he keeps moving…[Read more] -

I think the wood pellets can be quite hard on their feet too, especially when they’re new. I think Apollo doesn’t like them that much either but fortunately he doesn’t go on litter box strike. You could try putting a thin layer of hay on top, or a thin layer of paper litter pellets on top to soften it up.

Tough to tell for sure from the pic, but the rabbit looks reasonably young and like it could have lop mix in there. Lops, and especially lop mixes may go through a growth phase where one or both ears lop, then are upright, then lop again etc. Lopped ears occur due to the shape of the crown, that changes as they grow so you don’t always know how…[Read more]

There can be many causes for watery eyes, dental issues is a common one. Rabbit teeth are continually growing so they can actually overgrow at the roots which can cause watery eyes. With it being both eyes it might be more likely to be something else such as a viral infection which antibiotics would not have fixed.
Does your vet see a lot of…[Read more]

So my bun Artemis is a neutered female that’s about a year old.
She actually has excellent litter training. That is, right until I clean her litterbox. Then she will mostly be peeing outside of it for a few days.
I do leave a little bit of dirty litter for her to recognize the scent, and I haven’t done any changes to her litterbox since we got…[Read more]

I also clean his eyes almost everyday with a wet warm cloth. And the watery thing never goes away. And I brought him to the vet two times for the same issue.

I never sure if my bunny is healthy or not.
-he’s very energetic, does a lot of binky like a lot
– eating and drinking is normal
– his droppings are nice rounded light brown color
-likes playing with me and stuff
– does flops when he is near me
but he also has
– watery eyes ( I been to the vet for his eyes and had antibiotics for him, the d…[Read more]

Thanks @DanaNM . Dorian has decided he doesn’t want pellets, so that’s sort of settling that one! He is going through a lot more hay now as well as greens (he emptied both his litter in yesterday, that’s like 4 times his size in hay, seriously I was impressed), vet said based on the greens (mostly forage and grass) he gets and his weight I can…[Read more]
