Hi, today I got my baby spayed. She got her 24 hours meds but the vet didn’t give me any meds at home. She said she does not need them now and if she is in pain i should call.
They gave her one of those plastic collars which I’m really not a fan of. And i feel awful she has it on her neck.
She has staple stitches. I hope they are called like…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Bunny Manure? in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 4 months ago
yes! They won’t “burn” your plants they way some manures will. I will occasionally just grab a handful of the poops and toss them on top of my potted plants. I don’t really have a great system though or know if that’s the ideal way to do it. I imagine you could also break them up a bit or even bury them. I compost everything else (the bedding and…[Read more]

I always add a fluffy hay layer on top of the pine pellets and my buns seem to appreciate it. You can also try adding a screen. I’m currently using knitting mesh, which is pretty soft on their feet.
@ALRyder I think pine pellets are pretty popular because they are economical and have really good odor absorption. ๐

@ALRyderย RE: it not turning into a game, that’s a great question! That is definitely a thing that can happen, especially with social buns that just love any attention.ย I tend to try to distract from the negative behavior by making a loud sound first (usually a loud clap), or if that doesn’t work, a very light spritz of water. I probably go o…[Read more]

Welcome ๐
Its most important for young bunnies to develop good hay eating habits and develop their gut microbiome (which happens with lots of hay eating!). So at this point I wouldn’t give any treats (I would also not give dry carrot). I think of treats like snickers bars for bunnies ๐

Hiya,
Ive recently got a mini lop, 9 weeks old! She has a small bowl of pellets throughout the day with unlimited hay and water. I have got her chew toys with hay/herb/wood/dry carrot and I also got some treats from the pet store. I know to avoid veggies and fruit for a while longer but are treats ok for her, if 1 per day?
Thanks!

Okay thank you so much! I’m not 100% sure if it’s out, I thought I had saline eye drops for my contacts but I guess not so I’ll go buy some soon. Would something like this work? And how much should I use, just a few drops?

Lol. Yes, one article I was reading called them time capsules, because of the way they release slowly. How do you collect yours and how often do you put it on the soil? We have a grate on top of our litter box. So, I thought it would be fine to take both the hay and manure and use both.

This is interesting. My buns has never gotten pellets on a regular basis. I’ve always used them as treats for tricks. Then again, he eats a ton of hay and he never leaves any of his fresh veggies from breakfast or dinner behind. Every meal is exciting to him. I always thought of this as normal bunny behavior.

Oh yes 😃
My seedlings in the window get bunny manure, my allotment plants do too. Its great that it doesn’t have to mature before use. Its also comes very practically pelleted!

Has anyone here used bunny manure in their gardens? I saw a post on Facebook the other day requesting bunny manure. This got me curious and I did some research. Apparently, it’s really good for your plants and doesn’t need time to sit like a lot of other manures. I’m just curious if anyone else here has collected their rabbit’s droppings for this…[Read more]

I clicked on this because I’ve been having the same issues recently. The cat scratcher would probably be a great idea for my buns because he loves to destroy his cardboard box in his cage. I might also put something in my room that is more anchored for him to tug on in my bedroom (that’s where he does most of his free-roaming and we inevitably…[Read more]

Saline drops for babies are fine for buns! Try rinsing and wiping with a clean tissue along theย lower eyelid, (not on the eyeball itself, the wiping is just to help clearing the eye), lightly, towards the inner corner of the eye.
Rinsing will not hurt anything but he might get a bit miffed at first, but nothing a treat wont fix!

I know I’m late to the game, but I have to say your new bunny is stinkin’ adorable. And I really liked the name Cosmo. What name did you decide on?

ALRyder replied to the topic just a small rant about my bunny in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 4 months ago
I thought about buying my buns, Detective Snicker, a cushy bed, then seeing how he treats his cardboard box (not to mention my carpet) I thought better of it. All night every night is a shredding, digging, ripping fest with him. Whenever my husband falls asleep on the couch he wakes up to the sound of Snicker “redecorating”.

Are pellets most preferred by the average bunny owner? And why? We use paper litter mixed with newspaper, have a grate over that (which your buns probably wouldn’t like on her feet any more than the pellets), then I put a little hay on top to cushion a bit. I think the idea of putting a thin layer of paper litter is a great one in your case.

Omg I totally missed the part about the vet holding the bun by the ears! Definitely find a new vet!
if you search for exotics or small animal vets you will hopefully find one.
That said the bun looks quite young, so it could be the ears starting to โlopโ
