nipoolas’s sister replied to the topic I cannot make my bunny eats hay. in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
He chews apple sticks chew toys made of hay such as hay cubes. He does not have access to cardboard at all. In my opinion, he seems to be very stubborn. He is such a cute little well mannered bunny except for the fact that he dislikes hay. I might have spoiled him a little bit too much because I used to give him what he wants if he doesn’t eat h…[Read more]

So basically you should rinse off the lettuce, an give your rabbit a few leaves. Since lettuce wilts easily you should put whatever he doesn’t eat and what’s left over in the fridge.

What kinds of things are he chewing in his free time? Some rabbits may need limited access to cardboard and such because they ingest too much, making them not eat as much hay.

An assessment from a exotic, rabbit-experienced vet is always a safe recommendation, especially if you have concern. The picture does not show much detail, so it is difficult to say whether it is a problem. Mouth-related issues could include wounds, syphilis, varying dental diseases… so there’s a lot of eliminate and a vet would be in the best…[Read more]

OK thank you. He is mostly doing it since I covered his cage. He is eating less hay but I think that may be because he’s been spoiled with pellets for a bit too long

So the flies are all gone from the bunny room now, it lasted about 4 days. The bunnies are still scratching their ears and faces a lot and now Fresno’s right eye is watery. I’ll be making a vet appointment but in the meantime I’ll just post here and freak out about it as per usual. 🥴

He is 2 years old. I don’t think he has dental problems. He eats hay when he feels like it but only a little. I don’t see any other symptoms such as drooling. He drinks fine and chews a lot. He is now having Oxbow garden select 2 tbsp per day. Yesterday, I prepare him a buffet of different types of hay and he seems to be more interested in it th…[Read more]

I am not clear about what you mean to keep the head of a lettuce in a bag in the fridge. Could you please explain that one more time ?

Since we’re on the topic of antiparastics, I just want to stress that compounds containing FIPRONIL must never be used on rabbits. It’s fine for cats and dogs, but it can be lethal to rabbits. (I know Dana mentioned this, but since it’s so very important, I just wanted to repeat it 😃)
Advantage and Revolution (Stronghold in Europe) are ok for…[Read more]

Young rabbits often tooth purr when they sit by themselves. It’s normal and good 🙂
If a bun is in so much pain that it’s tooth grinding, there are other signs of pain as well, such as loss of interest in food. The rabbit often wants to hide out of sight, and may hide in places where it doesnt normally go. It may be very reluctant to move from its…[Read more]

Hello,
I got my mini lop about a month ago…. he’s 12 weeks old today. Everything was going good, until he started escaping his pen, about 2 weeks ago. Every other night he would get out. One night he got out while I was awake. I managed to catch him before he got into any bad places (house isn’t bunny proof yet). I caught him awkward…[Read more]

Hello, this is my first time bonding rabbits and am concerned with any issues I might come across due to having trouble picking up one of my buns (female). I am doing a female/male bonding, both are the same age but we have had the female for 2 years and just adopted the male a couple weeks ago. Ever since she was a baby she hated being picked up,…[Read more]

Rinse the lettuce in cold water. You can divide big leaves into smaller pieces (not super small). Some buns prefer the green part of the leaves over the white part, but both are fine to give.
Serve only what he’ll eat in one sitting, lettuce wilts quickly. Keep the head of lettuce in a bag in the fridge.

Hello, how do I prepare the frisee lettuce(curly endive) for my bunny? Should I feed him only the green parts or the white part ? Thank you.

If you can find a buddy Tater Tot likes, then go for it.
Getting a buddy for our bun, Walter, isn’t an option, and it bums me out.
TT should let you know when you’ve found the right one.

Thanks so much everyone. She started eating hay a couple days ago thankfully. If she goes off again it I’ll be taking her to a more rabbit savvy vet too.
