OK I’ll plan on that then.  Good news- today he’s coming up to me and letting me pet him.   Eating regularly.   He doesn’t really grind his teeth unless I’m next to the cage either.  But…. better safe than sorry

He’s pretty chunky. He’s not boney at all to be honest. He’s not overweight though but he’s like a good weight and I can’t feel his bones extremely. I can feel them but not excessively.

The vet may be able to do a sanitary shave without sedation. If they do need to sedate, they could use a very light sedation which would be quite safe.

Also, a tip for working out mats is to pull on the sides of them. If you work slowly on them you might be able to make some progress yourself.

To me that sounds more like pain clicking (with the body position and squinting).

It’s hard for me to say, but given how young he is and since you have a suspicion of an injury, the safest thing would be to visit the vet. They can make sure he doesn’t have a sprain or broken bone that needs medical attention.

I believe Revolution will kill ticks or make them drop off, or you can remove them if you find them before your vet visit (or the vet can help). I think the vet will also be able to help you assess age and what type of pellet to feed. Given the situation the bun is probably eating an alfalfa based pellet currently.

As far as hay, with young…[Read more]

That all sounds good to me, and sounds like healthy poops! 🙂 The timings are really your preference. Some people like to feed 1 big meal a day (pellets and salad), others like to do 1 smaller meal and 1 bigger.

The only thing I’ll add is that at 4 months he’s still growing, so he might need a smidge more pellets. I would just keep an eye on his…[Read more]

Hubby doesn’t want another.  If bonding were a simple matter, like the G.Pigs, I could probably convince him.

But, it’s more complicated and it didn’t work, there is no space left for another set up.

Dorian is so cute, just anxious to get into trouble! I should probably keep mine out of my room when I work, they run around looking for trouble for a couple hours and can be distracting!

<3 Fresno and Nora! I didn’t think to do good mashup names!! I’m glad they are comfortable now that the flies have left them alone. For some reason I can’t see…[Read more]

Hi, I just got a new lop bunny from someone who was giving her away. I have discovered she has really bad mats deep in the fur round her bum.

She’s not keen for me to groom and they won’t come out with just a comb. I’m thinking of taking her to the vet to be sedated just once to remove the mats and then I will keep on top of it.

    Is sedation safe?

My shelter does remote, but for buns they will let the foster and potential adoptee meet, or I should say let the rabbits meet. You could try asking. That said I am personally finding it a lot trickier, but I love the foster-to-adopt idea. I think you should do it if you feel up for it and I am sure Tater Tot would love a new friend. Or at least…[Read more]

Thank you, fingers crossed once the humping is out of his system they will be a quick bond 🙂

The litterbox idea is brilliant, I hadn’t thought of that! Thank you for all the tips, this has already been way more helpful than Google haha

Yes, I think no matter what strategy I use she will feel betrayed each time, hopefully once bonded we will be…[Read more]

I hope so! I’ve been working really hard to make things perfect!

I was worried about that as well, but the person who has my rabbit right now was actually selling all of their rabbits as quick as they’ll go so I’m hoping to get at least some of the usual pellets. Should I feed Alfalfa Hay or regular Timothy? That was something I was having a hard…[Read more]

Update: Teddy is doing about the same, but I notice that he has extra trouble noticing/smelling/finding his food — to an extent that seems new (at least as of the past week or so). Like, he goes crazy for oats, but I don’t know if he can detect them very well.  There were some on the left side of his pellet pile just now and I tried pointing him…[Read more]
