Well, talked Hubby into it!
We had only planned on the one bun, so weren’t planning on the neuter…will now call around.
Age is unknown, she was a stray. But, full grown, it seems.
She is very skittish, probably been through a lot.
I’ll get some pics up later. She is a PEW lionhead w/”smoked” ears.
I am a sucker for white fur and have al…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Would this be feasible? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 3 months ago
I don’t know of any successful bonds with an unneutered male. Even if the female is spayed, unneutered males tend to mount relentlessly, and eventually even the most mellow female gets tired of it.
I think most bonds can work IF both buns are castrated. Most do not work if one bun isn’t castrated. In the past it was more common for bonds between…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic My bunny pees and poops everywhere! Help 🙁 in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
It could be a case of giving too much space too quickly, especially since he was used to being confined. When he poops, is it single poops, or piles? The first is territorial, the second is just laziness. Same with peeing, does it seem like spraying (peeing in a line or scattered), or big puddles?
They are also a relatively new bond, and…[Read more]

Our pets will very quickly turn us into vending machines if we let them!
I think it helps to stick to a schedule with feeding (especially pellets), and only give them at the normal time, no matter how much they try to convince you that you’ve forgotten to feed them. Remember, her getting hungry during the day is normal, but she should turn to her…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Spay filled with blood? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
From the picture alone it doesn’t look too alarming, but if it seems swollen or fluid filled to you, then call your vet (especially if it seems to have changed quickly). She could have pulled an internal suture.

They learn very quickly that begging can get them what they want. The key is to not give in to their begging. But yes, this is completely normal.

Welcome to BB! I just wanted to let you know that this is a very old thread (11 years) and the OP has not been active for a very long time. If you read this thread, you will see that this isn’t an uncommon issue and that the rabbit probably doesn’t understand what they are biting exactly. I’m going to lock this thread so to not cause confusion for…[Read more]

Minx, and before Minx, Bubby did the same thing. BUT!!! I wasn’t holding them. They will run up out of the blue and bite my nipple. WHY

LBJ10 replied to the topic Helping my elderbun find his food in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
Hmm… yeah, I don’t know. During my dog’s last year, I mostly just stood there and encouraged her to finish her food. If I didn’t, sometimes she wouldn’t feel like eating it. From what you’re describing, it seems like you are going through something similar with Teddy. Short of making his space smaller, I’m not sure how you would keep the food…[Read more]

Hi
I don’t know if it is a problem but i give my bun greens in the morning and evening and then pellets throughout the day. She is completely healthy with normal poops and eating hay too.
One thing I have problem with is that she goes to her bowl and sits there until I give her something to eat (pellets) she will literally stand on her back legs…[Read more]

Thank you. Will definitely bring critical care, and ask the vet for any medicine we might need. If I remember, I will return here and update after the flight for future references.

Our forums cannot be a replacement for veterinary care unfortunately. At this point, I would think an emergency vet may still be a good choice, even if not ideal.

Hi, I had some rabbits outside. I needed to mow and somehow one of them escaped. They got hit by the mower and lost one of their ears but there are no other visible injuries. I can’t take them to a vet until Monday cuz the places here that take care of rabbits close on saturdays. I don’t know what to do, I’ve never had this happen before

Update: the bowl works like a charm 🙂 Fits about 3 cups which lasts for days but I change it everyday anyway. No more tossing around and tipping over, it is heavy even for me… so in case anyone is looking for this, I can strongly recommend!

DanaNM replied to the topic 3rd Cut Timothy Hay in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
That all sounds good to me! When switching grass hay types you don’t have to worry like you do with switched pellets or new veg, and I think more hay variety is great. My vet has actually mentioned to me that giving multiple types of grass hay is really good for buns.
