I’m very sorry for your loss.
As Dana says, rabbits often seize before they pass away. Sometimes they also vocalize. It’s very traumatic to witness.
It is quite possible for a rabbit to choke on food. RHD is another possibility if you are in an affected area. RHD as a rule causes sudden death. In arras with confirmed RHD it might be possible to…[Read more]

I would recommend having him checked out by a vet to make sure there isn’t an underlying medical issue. How much pellets does he get per day? Sometimes teenage buns can get a little lean as they grow, and then they fill out as they get a bit older, but since he seems pretty different from your other buns I do think a vet exam is a good idea.

Hi, I have a 6 month old male dwarf dutch rabbit. He has always been tiny, but recently I noticed him getting thinner. I can feel his spine and hip bones, which I have never been able to do with my other rabbits. His mate seems healthy and fine. Both are eating, drinking and producing pellets as usual. He is just SO thin it’s starting to worry me.…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁
It is not uncommon for rabbits to have seizures when they die, so that may have been what you observed. It’s very traumatic to see 🙁
Rabbits can choke unfortunately, one of the leads at the rescue I volunteer with had a rabbit die very suddenly a few months ago. She was very concerned it was RHD, but the autopsy…[Read more]

Hi guys
I’m new to this but today my baby Flemish rabbit passed away. She’s about 16 weeks old & Every morning we leave the buns out for some grass & fresh air, Bambi has her own run & spends most her day messing around
Today I noticed she was lying down flat, i laughed and called her thinking she was asleep but she didn’t move. When I…[Read more]

It is so cute! I dont have pics, sadly, but the first few nights my Vilde slept in my home, he didnt venture out of the cage he came with, and he slept in his pink corner litter pan. His former owner had informed me that this was his habit. He’s a tiny bun, but the litter pan was still a very snug fit.
Nowadays Vilde likes to squeeze in and…[Read more]

I do clean their litter boxes with baking soda every second day, I’ve been meaning to rebuild the hidey house that they’re usually in cuz they chewed it up (it’s basically a 2 story cardboard condo ha) the last few days I haven’t seen any of the chasing and nipping but I also almost never see grooming. I don’t think I’ve seen much grooming since…[Read more]

Post-neuter craze! Many bunnies are hormonal after their neuter and, for some, this means being extra “naughty”.

It can really vary depending on whether your bunny is one that “blows their coat” all at once or one that sheds constantly. The fur may not be actively growing right now… particularly on the belly.
