    Hi everyone,

I have a 7 month old female holland lop named Annie. She was spayed 12 days ago and has been cleared by her vey regarding the recovery.

(A bit of a back history)- About 3 days post opp, I had to bring Annie back to the vet because she was scratching and picking at her ears quite a bit. The vet looked in her ears via scope and said…[Read more]

    I don’t have experience, so I definitely defer to @Bam ‘s reply!

I will note that, especially if it’s your first time, having someone experienced show you how to go about it. If your rabbit vet is not experienced with it, you can try checking in with local rabbit rescues (if you have a local HRS chapter in your area), and perhaps they have a…[Read more]

It is customary to cut angora rabbits’ fur very short 3-4 times per year. It’s called harvesting, but angora rabbits actually wont be at all happy unless you harvest their fur regularly.

My teddy lionhead was shaved when he came to me. It was after the unseasonably hot summer of 2018, so his former owners had shaved him so he wouldn’t get so…[Read more]

I have two rabbits, Honeybun and Taako (pronounced like taco). They’re both mini rabbits, Honeybun being a short haired Dutch and Taako being an American fuzzy lop. With long hair. Lots of long hair. I knew what grooming I was signing up for when I got him, but he does not like being brushed. At all. He’ll deal with it for a few minutes during h…[Read more]

I’m currently feeding Oxbow but Burgess Excel is a great brand too. Depends what’s available in your country 🙂

I’m sorry to hear that Remy has floppy bunny syndrome. From what I’ve read, yes it can be fatal but with supportive care rabbits can also make a full recovery. There’s not too much known about it, so I think there are multiple possible causes so it’s important to rule out underlying causes, as if the cause isn’t treated and you only manage…[Read more]

    update:

I just found out remy probably suffers from floppy rabbit syndrome (FRS), that’s why he can’t stand up and move his legs.

    i hope he’s going to recover, i read it’s a fatal disease

Tomorrow is the day!!! I will be attending a huge adoption event. I have 5 bunnies picked out to meet but if those don’t click a ton of others will be there. The 5 I picked out I think would be the best fit for Tater. There’s one that I really REALLY want and she’s been at the rescue for a while but I have to see if she’s as calm as they claim…[Read more]

hi, thank you very much for your answers.

the vet gave us a painkiller called meloxoral and told us to feed him 0,65ml a day (she said its actually a medicine for dogs but it works on bunnies as well).

i don’t really know why he’s laying like that though, he literally can’t stand up, his legs are really weak, yesterday night i thought i was…[Read more]

Yes, what meds were you given? That could be why he’s laying like that.

Keeping him warm is really important. Make sure he doesn’t get too cold. It is common for their body temperature to drop when they have stasis. As long as there is no blockage, it is safe to syringe feed to keep everything in the gut moving. Sometimes vets prescribe sub-Q…[Read more]

I can’t get a photo of her below her mouth because she moves around, but it looks like a wound, it’s not bleeding but it looks like skin has scratched off (?) it’s because of her grooming and her nails scratch too hard right? Nothing to worry about? 😰
