I was thinking Hashbrown, toast, and also like the other suggestions so far! Spud is cool because the famous bull dog dog with the eye patch was also named spud I think?

I love him! What a beautiful bun!
What about Spud? In keeping with the potato theme LOL

So, I’m a little confused by the timeline. Let me just clarify, so they spent 8 days at the bonders and were perfectly behaved? Then came home, and haven’t fought or had any aggression? They are eating together, cuddling and grooming? Does either bunny seem tense or nervous around the other?
To me that sounds bonded! If they’ve been together 24…[Read more]

If you are unsure and cannot supervise at night, I don’t see it being bond-impairing to have them separated by a pen wall perhaps. I have two -somewhat- bonded rabbits who free-roam together, but at night when things seem a bit tense, they share a divided x-pen.
You can never be sure about expansion until you try. I would say they should be able…[Read more]

Hey! I am really sorry for the longggg post. Just looking for some advice/clarification on a few (or a lot of) things.Luna is 11 months old, spayed in January. Soooo gentle and calm. Never had any aggression from her. Very very chilled out, our Lazy Luna. Quite a nervous bun (obviously they all are to some extent but her more than…[Read more]

It does sound like it’s in the early stages. When one of my rabbits started showing early signs of sore hocks, for flooring I did a more soft/durable fleece over a 0.5in memory foam pad all over his main enclosure. That being said, he is not prone to digging or chewing so it may not be the best option for all rabbits.

Thanks so much everyone for all of the advice!
I’m currently harvesting fur, hopefully I will get enough off her to make some padding. Then it’s on to wrapping…think that might be a 2 man job as she’s been super wriggly when I’m trying to clean her foot.
The spray on band aid seems like a good idea for some extra protection once the hock is…[Read more]

That’s so crazy to me, I’ve never seen one that doesn’t neuter before adopting out because they don’t want the new owners to use them for breeding. Any that adopt out unaltered buns need a stern talking to.

There are so many things we cannot observe/perceive with rabbit relationships… again, just remember the idea is the big picture and day to day fluctuations can be OK and natural!

I second this! It’s much more important to find a personality match than a size match. I have a Polish who is 2.5 lbs of crazy and 2 7 on rabbits. His size does not stop him. Unfortunately he’s crazy, that’s what causes problems lol. He’s been happily bonded with a 7 lb neutered male for several years and has never been hurt by him. My other large…[Read more]

You do not need to worry too much about size — I myself have two rabbits, one of whom is x3 the size of the other and they are fine together. If anything, it’s helpful that the smaller is the more testy one, as his nips do not bother the larger one. That being said, it would be a different story if it’s the other way around.
If you feel you will…[Read more]

There’s actually a rabbit rescue in my area and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spayed or neutered rabbit there. I got one of mine there and had to have him neutered on my own and it wasn’t a requirement of the adoption. It would be better if they were fixed but I don’t think that’s a universal with rabbits apparently.

Bam replied to the topic is she playing or being aggressive in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 3 months ago
I fully agree with LBJ. The behaviors you describe are hormonally driven. They’re neither aggressive nor playful. What I can say is that there’s no malice in it.
Wild rabbits live short lives. They are important as prey in the food chain. This means they need to procreate (have babies) as quickly as they possivly can, for the species to…[Read more]

If the sore is open and wet, the bun might need systemic (oral) antibiotics. This is important, because infection can lead to bone degradation if it’s not properly treated. For this reason, open sore hocks require vet attention.
My rabbit had sore hocks after a long bout of GI problems. When he recovered and regained his energy and lust for life,…[Read more]

Is she spayed? What you’re describing sounds like hormonal behavior to me.
