LBJ10 replied to the topic Cat diagnosed with worms, should I treat rabbits? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
Your bunny would have to ingest something (grass, hay, pellets, etc.) contaminated with your cat’s poop. Or your bunny would have to step on your cat’s poop and then groom their paws. Otherwise, it isn’t likely that your cat gave your bunny worms.
Just to be safe though, it wouldn’t hurt to treat your bunny with Panacur.

My cat was diagnosed with roundworms and tapeworms Friday. He’s on treatment for it, and I started prevention meds yesterday too (*sigh* vet never mentioned prevention meds when I got him a few months ago, & I didn’t think about it). I didn’t think to ask the vet if I should give my rabbits anything, and they’re closed til Tuesday. And since…[Read more]

If you can show their head shape, that would be helpful. Although I know that’s difficult with a lionhead.
Perhaps they are the results of someone trying to make lionlops? If you cross a lionhead with a lop, the offspring may not have fully lopped ears.

Hi! I recently got a 5 year old bunny that had been rescued and rehabilitated around 6 months ago. She is extremely sweet, super gentle, loves human affection, but is just shy, timid and quiet.
I have her in my bedroom currently, she has her own half of the room separate from me kind of so she feels comfortable. I moved her things around…[Read more]

Hi there,
This is very interesting.
I will be contacting the vet again tomorrow to sort this out. I’m going to demand that they see Annie in person (rather then just over the phone/email… I understand their covid precautions but this to me is now an urgent situation)I am very frustrated as you can probably tell…. I just feel bad for poor A…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Male and female bonding—mixed signals? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 3 months ago
From what you’re describing, it sounds like your female is “done” with him. In other words, he has served his purpose and now he is just an annoyance. They seemed friendly toward each other in the beginning because the male was still very young. Then he started to become sexually mature and the interactions changed. This is normal behavior for…[Read more]

OK, this isn’t what I was expecting. When I said anti-fungals can “burn”, I meant they can irritate and cause a burning sensation on already angry skin. What you have here is not an anti-fungal (although it has anti-fungal properties). It’s a 3% chlorhexidine spray. I’m not sure why the vet would prescribe that. I’ve never heard of it being used…[Read more]

This sounds to me like it could be about the phenomenon known as the “spook age”. It’s well known in young dogs, but most, if not all, mammals go through a similar stage in their development towards adulthood.
Very young mammals are unafraid and curious and teusting of their environment. They readily explore their surroundings and they dont mind…[Read more]

I have a temp cage set up for my new bun who is also laid back. She sprawls out without a single care in the world. I was in a pinch and gave her a storage cube/box as a hide. At this point, the “hide” has become more of a “throw.” She’s an interior designer and loves to move it around her pen to match her daily aesthetic. So whether or not your…[Read more]

Thank you for being so kind and helpful. I will certainly take your advice and grab a glass before my first bonding session! I like the idea of a lifeguard or a referee rather than the protective mama bear I am. Shout out to the parents of tiny humans. My child will be bubble wrapped until they’re 18 😅

I use the tractor supply pine pellet stall bedding, which is the litter many rabbit owners use since you can buy a 40lb for $6! I have found it to be much more absorbent (and affordable) than any paper litter I’ve used in the past.

Mine has little stuffies I got around Easter time from CVS. Interestingly he prefers the bunny ones over the llama one. His BFF blue has gotten a little mangey looking, poor thing. But honestly I think it more has to do with the texture. He will lick anything fluffy, including fluffy blankets and pillows. I have an anxious bun so I feel like…[Read more]

Yes that was my original thought. I use so phresh absorbent pellets. Might I ask what litter you switched to? I’m always willing to try something new!
I think the water dispenser I got is 0.5 gallons, and she drinks around half of it every day. If that’s the case then she would be drinking around 1liter per day. I’m going to measure today just…[Read more]

I definitely agree with Wick, especially since it sounds like she is in pain. Cool compresses seems like a great thing to help soothe her ears 🙂

What litter do you use?
I will mention that my Wick, who is a Netherland Dwarf, is pretty small… I imagine like your lionhead?
I adopted Fable, who is an American Sable, later on and I remember being very surprised by how much she drank and how much she peed… we changed litters because of her. We used Carefresh previously, but the entire box…[Read more] -

thank you for responding! I heard back from the rescue and they said it didn’t look like that much urine. They instructed me to clean her litter multiple times a day and wait 2 weeks to see if it calms down. she’s a foster-to-adopt as a potential bondmate for my current bunny. It seems irresponsible and unreasonable to wait 2 weeks given the s…[Read more]
