Connie started the topic Looking for some advice in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years ago

My 3 year old male rabbit has this bump on his nose. I have sought out advice from a vet and they are not concerned as he is still eating/using the toilet and is his usual bad behaved self.
They could not tell me the cause of this mark, it appeared out of nowhere about 2 weeks ago.
He does have a free standing hay rack, he frequently…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic What does Pyrometra symptoms look like? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years ago
Pyometra is uncommon in rabbits, rabbits tend to get other uterine problems. The most common are thickening of the uterine wall and uterine cancer. It is probably due to high levels of estrogen. I can’t remember that we’ve had a case of fullblown pyometra here. Spayed buns of course can’t get pyometra.
Pyometra means there’s bacteria in the…[Read more]

Nothing is wrong with Blossom so I’m sorry for the title scare, I don’t know how else to word it. Anyway I was watching vet shows and a dog on it had pyrometra and it got me wondering “what does pyrometra symptoms look like in a bunny?” I trust you all with that information more than me just researching it on my own, (because of all the…[Read more]

She’s had about 5 CT scans and they are as just at a loss as to why they keep coming back as we are.
her recent CT showed 7-8 stones and 7 were removed. They did a much larger site this time to make flushing easier, so I’m hoping that will go in her favour. But yeah they can’t give me a reason for why this keeps happening either. Apparently while…[Read more]

This is just normal hexagon wire as far as I know. It’s made for chickens cats dogs and rabbits. it’s not thick like a dog cage or rabbit wire from what I understand.

This is such a rare thing, it’s difficult to to find any literature on it. One thing that I did find is they can be associated with an ectopic tooth invading the sinus cavity. This makes you wonder if tooth roots invading the sinus cavity could cause also this. One of my bunnies had chronic problems with his sinuses due to overgrowth tooth roots.…[Read more]

I’m so sorry you lost Snuggles. You did everything you could. Sometimes they are just so sick that it’s too much.

Another update:
Just collected her from the vets after her 3rd rhinostomy. she had a repeat CT scan on Thursday which showed rhinoliths have reoccurred in her nose again, so they’ve opened her nose back up and removed them. I asked for a repeat culture just to be on the safe side, so so far no antibiotics until we hear back from that within the n…[Read more]

Hey, I found a giant cage for my rabbits to run but it is made of PVC coated hexagonal wire mesh. It says it will hold rabbits in but I know they like to chew on stuff and will chew through standard chicken wire. Do you think this will work?? I’m looking for second opinions. The actual owner of the product says it holds rabbits and they can’t bre…[Read more]

My boys got through the tiff. It took a couple days for them to act normal again. Well now two weeks later after everything has been great something happened and I ran down to find my son boy chasing the submissive and fur pulling. I have kept them together and been monitoring. They are def mad at each other. The submissive boy actually chased and…[Read more]

After a rough night, Snuggles the bunny has passed. She was a good girl, and my life won’t be the same without her. Hug your bunnies whenever you can, our time with them is never enough.
