Cataracts associated with age gradually develop over time… even years.

Thank you for this post. I’m so sorry for your loss but I’m glad you’re able to focus on the good memories you have with her.
I had to put my dog of 14 years to sleep last night and, just how I did when my bunny and horse died, I find that I’m punishing myself for it. He was suffering from multiple illnesses but I still can’t help but wonder if…[Read more]

It doesn’t hurt to try cutting down on what he’s currently eating.

I found this forum on the day of my baby girl’s passing, 6/23/2021.  My Bonny passed during sedation on this date.  She was a couple of months shy of her 12th birthday.  Yes, she lived a long life.  Yes, she died in peace.  We took her to the vet (an awesome one) for her every 3-4 month right-side molar trim for the past two years.  Dr. said she d…[Read more]

Bonding is going great. Excuse the terrible picture they were running around like madmen. We have moved to slightly familiar areas. This is on a guest bed (covered so all the hay doesn’t get on the actual bed lol) that they both like to run around and hop on and off of throughout the day. There’s been lots of grooming. The only issue I’m having at…[Read more]

    Hi All,

We noticed this on our female mini rex today.  It doesn’t look terrible but you can tell it’s iritated and that there could be some broken skin.  We’ll keep an eye on her nails and also put some more padding under her mats.  Will this resolve by itself or should we take her to the vet??

I’m reviewing the ingredients in Garden Select and it looks like it might have more vitamins and minerals but it also has tomato pomace which looks like it’s about 25% sugar, so I’m considering that this ingredient could be contributing to his problems. Unfortunately I don’t know what percentage of the pellets are made of this so it could be an…[Read more]

RE: Weeping eyes – I have noticed more of a discharge. It isn’t runny, more like extra “sleep” in the eyes. The vet said this may be due to the cataracts. Perhaps this is what you are experiencing with your bunny as well? However, as Dana pointed out, it could be tooth related. Especially if it is runny and you notice selective eating or changes…[Read more]

As for carriers, I use one that is a good size for a large cat for my pairs. You don’t want it to be too big, as it’s safer if they can’t move around too much. I think anything in the cat/small dog category would work for most pairs. The ones with the top opening are really handy for bunnies too.

Something like this would be great:

The simple answer is yes. However, depending on the type of bedding/litter, it may not break down very quickly without actual composting.
