Hey guys. Unfortunate news, she did pass away last night. She wasn’t wheezing or anything but she was extremely weak. I’ll miss her but I am glad she isn’t in pain anymore or feeling sick. My dad was with her when she passed so she wasn’t alone. Thanks for all the help and the best vibes to you and your bunnies

    Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this forum and I’m a new holland lop bun mom. He is my first pet and bunny ever. I just got him at 8 weeks and he is about 12 or 13 weeks old right now. I’ve been noticing since about the 2nd or 1st week that he has had some redness around his eyes. I immediately made him a vet appointment and they said…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your losses!

Thank you for this post. 🙂 Sometimes the truth can be as beautiful as it is painful, making it hard for people to bring themselves to find it. One thing is for sure, though: we can’t blame ourselves for things that our out of our control. We could try all day, and come up with a million possibilities as to why we c…[Read more]

That does look alarming. How long have you had her? Could she have been bitten by another rabbit before you brought her home?

Where are you located? Are you in the US?

Some bunnies take longer to recover from the stress of a car ride and vet appointment. Rapid breathing can be a sign of stress. Does she look like she’s having trouble breathing at all? Tipping her head back or a wheezing sound? Anything like that?

You said he stopped sneezing when you tried a different hay? I’m not sure what the blue label is, but I know red is Timothy. Can you try orchard or oat? Those tend to be less dusty.

The wound doesn’t look horrible in the picture, but it’s hard to tell. How deep is it? Was it just the top layers of skin? Or is it more like a puncture?

Ha, yes, and I think most bun bondings turn into a saga 🙂 I started marathoning in the neutral large walk in closet I used for their dates. As part of the saga, they were gone for a week and I replaced the carpet in it to vinyl, so it was as neutral as I could get (Elmer had been in my entire place).  I would definitely not do it where their…[Read more]

I am not sure if that will need additional treatment but I did want to say that at some point if you decide to put an antibacterial ointment on it, it has to be WITHOUT pain killers. The lydocaine that’s used as a pain killer in those can stop their hearts.

The wound doesn’t look too awful luckily and that’s a cute rabbit!

    hi all,

my bunny was just bitten by another rabbit, and took some skin off. I think her mouth might also be swollen but not too sure… I rinsed the wound off with some water, but not sure if I should do anything else. Any tips would be much appreciated!

Hello everyone, i have a 3,5 month old bunny and he has been sneezing for the past 2 months. As soon as he started i went to the vet and she gave me a medication with drops that i would have to apply to his nose twice a day for 5 days. Once that didnt work my vet gave an antibiotics medication that i gave him again twice a day for 14 days this…[Read more]

I can’t really help out much on the medical side (neither a vet nor bunny expert), but I do love to research things. Per your question at the end, bunny ears are designed for thermoregulation. So you’ll see bunnies, like jackrabbits, in hot climates with very large ears, while small bunnies like Netherlands dwarfs have have adorably tiny ears to…[Read more]

I absolutely agree with @Wick… this looks serious. Please take her to a vet immediately. You really don’t want it to end up blocking her nose, and leading her to suffocate. Poor baby ♥

Bun’s often get exhilarated when presented with more space to roam. My bun was used to limited space when I got him, and I think his excitement over more space contributed to his sore hocks. After a while, when they’ve explored their area and properly chinned it to let all the other (albeit non-existent) rabbits know who’s boss, they dont feel the…[Read more]

That’s a good idea about the hay!

I’ve tried them with various sizes from about 4ft2 (so there was just enough room for their litter trays) to 8ft2

Yes I think that’s it the food is just a distraction

It’s much hotter here than usual so I got my buns a mini swamp cooler. The coolest area is pretty small and 2 days in a row Ben and Clover have set aside their differences to cuddle up in the cool zone!

It has been this way since I got Fable back in Sept. 2019. She, more often than not, has pretty warm to hot ears. Other potentially relevant information is she breaths heavily (full body) and rapidly. All signs point to being overheated, yes, but I don’t think that’s quite it and am curious of other’s thoughts. Fable has seen a vet in regards to…[Read more]
