“I have told her off everytime she does this…” – unfortunately, rabbits and humans don’t communicate or think the same way, so rather than trying to instruct otherwise, it will probably be more effective to find ways for her to not do this, such as limiting access to the edges of the flooring that she can get to and eat. As Dana mentioned,…[Read more]

All animals, and rabbits especially, will hide their symptoms until they can’t anymore, so it’s very possible there were no signs of anything wrong before, or they were very subtle!
Can you offer water in a bowl as well? Many rabbits drink more from a bowl and it should be easier if his mouth is hurting him.
If he stops eating his CC on his own…[Read more]

You should share this information with your vet, because it may change the treatment procedure. There is a chance of a blockage with eating that much of a foreign substance, so the vet may want to do x-rays.
And yes, rabbits do eat lots of things they aren’t supposed to. As domesticated animals they don’t have the same instincts that wild rabbits do.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. For the last month, the male has been living indoors with our original female, 24/7. He wouldn’t be going to live alone outdoors, he would be going in with our (currently solo) female outdoors. It’s our original female I’d be worried about because although she was alone for 18 months and does get lots of attention from…[Read more]

Hello.
This morning I noticed my rabbit wasn’t eating, and was not behaving normal.
I took her to the vet, he said the only thing he found that was abnormal is that he could not hear much bowel movement.
He gave her a shot of something to help move it along, I am to take her back tomorrow if she is still not eating.
But when I got home, I…[Read more]

You’re welcome. <3
It took me a long time to be able to look through photos. I think about a year after I finally was ready to make an album for Bunston.
Take care. <3

DanaNM replied to the topic Help/Advice – Male + two fighting females in the forum BONDING 5 years, 2 months ago
Just to clarify, is your male bonded and living with one of the females 24/7? If so, then you should not separate him from the bunny he’s bonded with. That would make both bunnies very depressed, especially if one would be going to live alone outdoors.
Or are you mostly concerned with the solo bunny who is not bonded? Sorry if I’m…[Read more]

Very true Wick! In a smaller hutch you wouldn’t want to cram too many things in!

Anything starchy can cause gas, so carrot could be the culprit. Celery isn’t known to cause gas, but it’s also not super nutritious for buns (at least the stalk parts).
I would see if going to a hay and pellet only diet helps things, then slowly reintroduce veg to see what the culprit is. Is Smokey a good hay-eater? Sometimes if they aren’t…[Read more]

Hi. I have a bit of a unique situation that I’m not 100% sure on how to handle and want to make sure I’m doing the best thing for the rabbits and myself. We have had a spayed female house rabbit for 18 months. We got a second rabbit around Christmas (also spayed female) in the hope of giving her some companionship – we were aware that it would be… -

Thank you for your reply. It is so traumatizing. I couldn’t even imagine doing it twice.
I’m trying to remember the wonderful moments. I probably have thousands of pictures of him I’d like to go through and save to an album or archive, I just don’t think I am ready to look through them. I’m so emotionally and physically exhausted.

FussyPaws started the topic Soil in Rabbit Dig Box? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 2 months ago
Hello! So I am looking to create a decent dig box for my bunny! I have a very large cat litter box that I’m going to use, but I’m having trouble deciding what to put in it. I know a lot of people go for paper and/or cardboard, but I would like to go for something more natural, like soil or sand, if possible. Mess isn’t an issue (she already…[Read more]

Thanks for all of the kind words, I really appreciate it. Instead of wallowing in sadness and grief the day after she passed I was able to have a good day, minus her death. Making sure I wasn’t super upset the first day has made the grieving process a whole lot easier. I’m doing better now, and I appreciate all of your kindness! I can only hope…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful bun she was, and what a wonderful life she must have had to make it to 11. <3 I think we bond even more strongly with them in their golden years, which makes it that much harder when they’re gone.
