I’m very sorry for your loss. Fly strike is often deadly, as Dana says. The best preventative measure is to keep the bun indoors when the weather is warm. It only takes the one fly though, so daily inspection of the bun’s rear end during summer is strongly recommended. My understanding is that RHDV is everywhere in Australia, but I’m not 100% on that.

Do you have a vet lined up? I’m not sure how young rabbits can be vaccinated, but it would be good to know whether it could have been RHDV before getting another rabbit, as it’s very contagious.

That sounds great! I would wait to do sessions just till after the bunny sitter comes. Once you start sessions it’s good to be consistent, so if you have to take a break from them anyway might as well wait.  🙂

Occasional humping is nothing to worry about as long it doesn’t lead to scuffling or aggression!

I use one large box my pairs, but some people use two. If they use it together no problem I think 1 is easier (less cleaning!) 🙂
