It could have been the hidey- house for sure. I would just keep a close eye on them for the next 48 hours or so to make sure things are OK. Sometimes little tiffs happen when you move to a new spot or change things up early in the bond, so you just need to make sure things improve.

It’s not normal for bonded buns to have scuffles where fur is…[Read more]

    Sounds great!

I think go with your gut on whether to separate them. I think since they haven’t had any fighting or chasing since Tuesday they are fine to leave for a bit, especially if it’s during the day when they typically rest. I also think that since they are in a space that’s big enough for them to move around then it makes it safer (vs.…[Read more]

Agree, sounds like it’s going well! My buns often try to groom each other’s bums, but usually the other rabbit doesn’t like it and will leave LOL

Both rabbits will groom, and often the mounting rabbit will groom before mounting. I don’t think it’s a problem that she’s grooming after.

I’m convinced that half the time both rabbits think they are dominant, so try not to worry too much about which bun is dominant and submissive. As long as you are seeing positive behaviors like grooming and…[Read more]

Ignoring each other is not a bad sign, because they are still deciding not to fight. Rather than mess with the space and forcing interaction, just start increasing the length of the sessions.

I usually bond in a large space, and have found that forcing them together in a small space often leads to fighting for me personally.

I like to do a lot of petting when they approach each other in these early phases, so they think the other rabbit is grooming them. You can pet them both and swap scents. Then when they seem calm you can start to ease off the petting.

Another thing to try is a larger space. Rabbits ignoring each other is not necessarily a bad thing, because it…[Read more]

Ugh so stressful! I’m sorry this happened. I think you made the right call by separating them entirely for now. I would give them a good long while of full separation. So maybe a couple weeks for healing, plus another 3-4 on top of that for hurt feelings to subside.

Then I would go back to pre-bonding for a few more weeks and see how they behave…[Read more]

Hadn’t thought of that, as I’m using a dish.  But I did get it well powdered in a really good blender.

I was a little excited when I found the video because I’m an idjit and grinding pellets never crossed my mind.  With 24 critters, it helps to save some money when you can.🙂

    So cute!  Name?

You can do a slower transition in order to use up that big bag of food.

Also, you can chuck them outside for the birds.

Be sure to tell dad thanks for the thought!😁

Cookie started to return to normal. But there is something. Cookie and I used to be like partners. But now he always moves freely on his own. He doesn’t show love and commitment to me like he used to. Will our relationship after sterilization always be like this? 😬😬😬

Those treats would be great for hamster if you or someone you know has a hamster or hamsters. I wouldn’t give them to rabbits though as it contains lots of seeds which rabbits should not eat.

Is this going to be the chat thread or the picture thread? Or are we throwing out the rule book and making it a free for all? 😀 😆

It’s not inherently toxic, but it definitely is on the “junk food” end of treats and may cause GI issues for a rabbit who may have a more sensitive stomach. I understand not wanting to waste them, but ultimately your dad already spent the money so whether or not you use them doesn’t change that fact (unless you can return them!). I personally…[Read more]

I was going to say the same thing as Dana. Their reason for cancelling the date makes zero sense and I would love to know if it was AFTER you asked for proof of spay (if you did) that they decided free roam is “bad”.

Try not to be sad, you might have dodged a bullet here and I’m sure you will find a companion for your bun eveentually. 🙂

    Hi,

My dad has brought me these treats for my bunny, and I don’t wanna waste them. I’m just wondering if they’re safe to eat because I heard a lot of backlash about the company Kaytee.

megsmom2005 started the topic Bunny peeing liter trouble in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 1 month ago

I recently got a bunny at rural king. He seems healthy eats good and poops. We have had liter issues from day one. I had a small plastic container for a liter box he would always pee out it and make a mess. So yesterday I put a dishpan in his house. He drinks water good but every since I changed this pan yesterday I have not noticed any pee. Would…[Read more]
