I still can’t see the video. 🙁 From the still shot, I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Are you talking about the part that is protruding? From this picture, it does look like a boy… although it’s a bit blurry. If you can get a clear picture, we can probably help you.

I’m sorry the ER vets weren’t much help, but they gave you pain meds and motility meds, which is the most important! It’s possible he just was going into stasis and there isn’t something else going on. Not sure where you are in the world, but is he molting? Molting and season changes in general seem to cause tummy trouble.
Keep up the supportive…[Read more]

If he is super squirmy, you could “sit” on him. He is on the floor and you just sit on your knees with him in between your legs. Then you can us the C-grip method Wick mentioned if necessary.

I agree with Bam that the root cause has not been addressed, but these sorts of things tend to be on the cutting edge of rabbit medicine.
If she is dropping weight then a hay-only diet will not work for her. It is sounding more and more like she could have something like cow pile syndrome or cecal dysautonomia ( I think I posted about this…[Read more]

Is she spayed? I wonder if she has an infection in her girl bits. You mentioned a sticky white discharge back there.

I agree with the others. You can safely give simethicone with the other meds. I have always had good luck with it (assuming the pain he is feeling is gas). You can relieve gas by holding him in your lap and elevating his rear end a bit. You can move his rear up and down (slowly) to help work the gas bubbles out. This would be an alternative to…[Read more]

That is really rough! I’m so sorry. I do see how hard it is to find these things on Amazon.sa. You may as well order whatever hay-based pellets you can find and at least they’ll be on their way, right? I don’t know about either cecal dysbiosis or e.c., so I’ll defer to others on that, but I wonder if your bun could at least have a tab…[Read more]

Thanks so much for your replies and for offering to help ♥
I am based in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia) so finding bun stuff here is so hard, and there are no real rabbit-savvy vets. I have already searched the whole of Amazon for pellets, and almost every single brand are out of stock. I actually thought she’s losing weight because she isn’t…[Read more]

I agree with Bam. And meanwhile, for food supplies, what country are you in? Hay-based pellets are plentiful in the US (e.g., Oxbow Essentials Adult Rabbit Food or Oxbow Organic Bounty Adult Rabbit Food — you can find either on Amazon) and I could help you search. For alfalfa hay we also go with Oxbow, also ordering online. But if I know whe…[Read more]

I’m so sorry! My bunnies have never been fans of being picked up either. If the suggestion above doesn’t work, I’d try being sneaky about it. Like just chilling near him, trying to pet him, and then sneaking in some drops (like holding the dropper over his ear without touching it) if possible. I’m sure that’s easier said than done, but tha…[Read more]

This is not just cecal dysbiosis, there’s something else going on as well. Cecal dysbiosis doesn’t cause weight loss, and certainly not rapid weight loss.
I think she needs to be seen again by a bunny savvy vet. They could do a blood panel.
Has e c been considered? It can affect both the gut and the kidneys.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of Binkybunny forums, we do not have many active members who are knowledgeable about breed standards, as intentional breeding is a prohibited topic. I suggest posting on RabbitsOnline, where there are members more experienced with this line of questioning.
I will lock this topic.

As many of you already know I’ve been struggling with a bun with cecal dysbiosis. I’ve tried cutting back on veggies and treats and keeping her on a hay diet, but it’s been almost a month now and no improvement. I’ve taken her to the vet to check for parasites and she was tested negative. She’s also had some gas bubbles for a while that won’t go,…[Read more]

I’ve got a 3 month old Holland Lop doe. I took her outside for some exercise today, and she got ahold of some sweet gum tree leaves. I’m not sure how many she ate, but she wasn’t on it long before I got her away from it. (Probably not even two or three leaves) Does anyone know if these are toxic? Some websites say you probably shouldn’t some sa…[Read more]

Simethicone can be given with the other meds.
Dont do anything that you are uncomfortable with.
If he feels cold, you need to warm him up, either with a warm water bottle orhandwarmers in a towel, or, if he’s comfortable sitting in your lsp, you can warm him up with your own body heat.
An ear infection can happen if the bun has a narrow ear…[Read more]

Completely understandable to not be comfortable with that method of tummy massage. Movement is most important (in my opinion), so again, I recommend occasionally getting him to move around just a bit. It’s a hard balance to know what’s “right”, but the ultimate goal is to get the gut moving again when there are major gas episodes. This may or may…[Read more]

Is Simethicone safe to mix with Metacam and Metoclopramide? Should we try that route?
Ears are cold, I got him out of the corner and into his litterbox: he hopped a bit and has groomed. Giving him some blankets now and am continuing to pet him, like you suggested.
I did notice when I went to lift his ears just a bit he was grinding his teeth or…[Read more]
