Most importantly, the fur issue is likely a sign the bond is not a bond and they are fighting– that’s a safety issue for both rabbits.
The fact that the second bun is not neutered is likely the culprit for all your problems.
One rabbit being hormonal (i.e. not neutered) means:
1) the “bond” he has with a fixed rabbit is likely not stable,…[Read more]

I had a Bunny and he was perfect – figured out toilet training really fast, liked to give kisses, never ate anything around the house, great behaviour. Then the time came to introduce a bun friend. They bonded perfectly. So they now both free roam around the apartment BUT……
The new bun started pooing all over the apartment and my old bun…[Read more]

I am bonding two rabbits (Nigel and Lavender). Both are altered and Lavender has been with me a for 1 year and a half and Nigel has lived with me for 6 months. Right now, they are living together in a neutral territory. I started marathon bonding 3 days ago. (This was after a failed bonding attempt about 3 months ago) The first day, they were…[Read more]

Since you have only been doing sessions a few days (unless I read something wrong) I think you just need more time. 🙂
You can experiment with larger or smaller spaces if things don’t seem to be going well, but in general if things are going OK in sessions its a good idea to just keep doing what you’re doing.

Hmmm, maybe I could. I’m sure I could find an extra litter box somewhere…

Hi All,
Our bunny hates being picked up and in fact never let’s us do it. She used to let us cut a few nails here and there but is getting increasingly difficult. We try to get her to relax and flop over and clip a few but she has been resistant to this too.
Any body else have rabbits that behaved similarly? Any tricks that worked for yo…[Read more]

Yes he is neutered, and he already is in a smaller space. I would love it if he could free roam but we have to get this litter box training down first. 🙂 he’s living in a play pen at the moment.

Is he neutered? If he is, then perhaps he just needs his space restricted for a little while so you can go back to Litter Training 101.

Have you looked for advertisements for horse-quality hay? If you have a farm or feed store nearby, sometimes you can ask the people who work there if they know anyone selling?

Sometimes it’s less “traumatic” to simply pick them up, place them in an unfamiliar place (e.g. a table) and do a deep grooming for as long as you can.

I think it depends on the cat. Some are very gentle with bunnies and do not view them as prey. But you do have to be careful with introductions and you don’t want to leave them unsupervised if you don’t know how they will get along with each other. A cat can very easily cause injury to a bunny, even in play. Something to keep in mind.

It doesn’t look too bad. Just make sure to cut her nails.
Do you use frozen water bottles? Or ceramic tiles? Some people use “Chin Chiller” stones which can be put in the freezer.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Pre bonding litter box in the forum BONDING 5 years, 1 month ago
I mean when you swap litterboxes, put them in the place the original one was. So the rabbit is still familiar with that’s the place to go, even if it’s a different box.
