If it’s attached to the skin, then best guesses are a scab or a papilloma.

Rabbits can live 10-12+ years. I think those old estimates are based on a time when we A) didn’t routinely spay rabbits, and B) not a lot was known about rabbit medicine. We have come a long way and, as a result, many rabbits are living longer… even those with medical problems.

Unfortunately, kidney disease is something that can definitely…[Read more]

Just put a deposit on our newest little girl.  Beautiful little Pug.   Her parents were just stunning!  I was to excited to remember to take a picture, hopefully the breeder will send some in the next VERY long weeks I have to wait!

It will be fun to have two Puglets.  Willow the mini Aussie will be getting a workout for sure!

Natural fibers would be best, in case your rabbits ingest it. You also want to make sure it’s somewhat soft, not rough.

Hi all, I’m hoping to get some opinions on my rabbits possible life expectancy from anyone who’s had a similar experience. Her vet wasn’t very optimistic 3 years ago but she’s still going.

I have a 5 year old spayed Satin rabbit, 9 pounds. She has chronic kidney disease, anemia, porphyria and extensive dental disease with abscesses in the jaw…[Read more]

Some bunnies enjoy pet strollers, others do not. If you decide to give a pet stroller a try, I would suggest monitoring their behavior while pushing them around. Maybe start with short trips. They could potentially make a hole in the mesh… but I think you would notice them chewing so I doubt it would get to the point where they would be able to…[Read more]

Rabbits can develop irritation, swelling, and even sterile abscesses after an injection. Do you have a picture?

My baby girl, guddu had her 2nd shot of ivermectin yesterday and today i noticed a pink and white lump on the same spot the syringe was pushed. the lump is hard and doesn’t hurt when touched, her activities are all normal. but it’s weirdly swollen and i don’t know what to do. rabbit savvy vets are hard to find in my country and the only one in…[Read more]

Yes, I’ve noticed that too and that’s why I’d like to push oat hay too… he doesn’t care for it at all so I gave up on it. Good to hear that it isn’t a “better” hay anyway

Oh got it. Also I understand wanting to get the green to stick to the theme, haha. If it is simply a thicker carpet, you could potentially bring it to a fabric or hardware store and they could cut it to size for you! They are better equiped with carpet cutting tools.

I have noticed that oat hay tends to give almost golden poops. This doesnt mean that oat hay is better than timothy or orchard or meadow hay (which in Europe is the most common type of hay and consists of a mix of various grasses.)

Its very good too keep an eye on poop though, like you’re doing. Amount and size is more important than color.

Thank you. I’m trying to make one last try as he was okay with 2nd cutting from rabbit hole hay before. If he insists on orchard grass then orchard it is.

Yes, I can’t tell if this is something attached to the skin or if it is simply gunk stuck in the fur. If it’s attached to the skin, then it could be a scab from an injury or a papilloma. If it’s in the fur, then it could be from a nasal discharge.

I wouldn’t go by color alone. Different hays can alter the color of poop. I have noticed as well that orchard hay tends to make poops look darker. It isn’t a bad thing as long as they are a good size and crumble.
