Also to clarify they had one bad fight. One scratch below the smaller ones eye but mostly white fur of the larger bunny around the room. But then they were next to each other and we separated again. They broke through the pin but we blocked the hole they made and it’s been good since. One point one of the bunnies got through the same hole when I d…[Read more]

So for clarification on the pen. They can see out. It’s mesh you can look through but for sure shades the inside area. They can see through the top and I have their food areas near each other’s just on either side one inside the pen one outside it you can see through the side and the top.

I agree, this is likely an overproduction of cecotropes due to improper diet. Avoid sugary treats until your bunny is older. And yes, it’s s good idea to switch her to a healthier pellet… even if they aren’t the source of the problem, they are not good for her in the longterm.

I think the blueberry and cranberry may be added for “antioxidants”… as per the advertisement on the front of the bag. I agree with Dana, it would be such a tiny amount. But if your bunny had problems before, then it’s better to be safe than sorry.

She is really sensitive to them. I gave her one before I know and she was tummy sick for 4 days. I don’t want to take chance because I would feel bad then.

That sounds very positive! Way to go!

Oh interesting. Unless she is extremely sensitive to them, I doubt they would be present in an amount that would cause tummy upset. Just a quick look at the ingredients shows blueberry and cranberry way down on the list, after salt and with the vitamin supplements, so there is likely just a tiny amount (just enough to claim them for advertising…[Read more]

And…right after I posted that I’m pretty sure I caught Tipper grooming Sweetie!! Given, it was a super aggressive licking 😂 but that’s the first time I’ve seen him give her any love.
I moved them to a new neutral room today and since I read your post I’ve been focusing on petting Sweetie and just giving Tipper the odd pet every third or fourth ti…[Read more]

Thank you both for the thoughtful advice!
It’s a good point about the “removing” of Tipper potentially being reinforcing. I’ll stop doing that.
I will also give a go of not doing the pre-stressing – I was starting to ease off for a bit because Sweetie gets frightened easily, but then it seemed like Tipper was too comfortable since he’s so used t…[Read more]

I tried oxbow garden and cinnimon didn’t like it. (I only had cinnimon at the time) I wasn’t sure if berries in pellets are common but I know oxbow organic has some. I will take a look a sherwood. Thank you

I know a lot of members who want a pellet with fewer ingredients go with the Oxbow Garden Select Formula. I’ve been feeding the Sherwood Adult Timothy for the last year or two and my bunnies are doing really well on it.
I don’t think any high quality rabbit pellets contain berries or fruits at all.

Okay thanks. I am looking for a Timothy pellet with not a ton of ingredients and preferably organic. My bunny cinnimon can’t have any berries though it makes her tummy sick. Do you know any?? I didn’t go with the oxbow Timothy one because I found out the tractor supply near me closed down.

I know it not hormonal she is 2. The kids don’t have access to her but sometimes the one of the kids goes down the hall which isn’t allowed and I don’t want him to open the door where the bunnies are. Door locks are not a option as a parents don’t like the idea. The kids don’t anymore they used to when they where older though. My mom has a daycare…[Read more]

It isn’t ideal but it’s temporary and better than a tiny cage. Also it’s important and good that they are getting exercise in a larger space. The one thing I really don’t like is that the bun in the grey carrier set-up can’t see out at all. Maybe you could invest in some x-pens so you could give them more space? I also really like using NIC c…[Read more]

Welcome, she’s a gorgeous bun!
Is she spayed? That can really hamper the litter box training, and is important to prevent cancer in female rabbits.

I agree with Wick that I wouldn’t move Tipper away when he starts going after her. Rather I would pin him in place if he starts to chase to let her move away.
But I think for the most part everything you are doing sounds fine, I think they just need more time together. For a rabbit to groom back they need to be very confident that the other…[Read more]

Have there regularly been kids interacting with her? It could be more due to her developing a fear of people due to that, rather than a result of being bonded. I agree with Wick that the kids should not have any access to your rabbits. Install a door lock if necessary.
Other things to think about are hormonal changes with castration and growing…[Read more]
