I would suggest not letting the dog groom her. And not let them around each other unsupervised. I’m not saying your dog would intentionally hurt your bunny. I’m just saying accidents can happen, especially when you have a larger predator animal with a smaller prey animal.
As for the setup, what is the dog crate for? If it’s meant to function as a…[Read more]

Yeah, it does sound like something is wrong, but it would be hard for us to guess. I’m just speculating here. My thought would be something is going on with her ability to swallow. Or she aspirated something already and this is somehow connected. Again, that is just me speculating. I agree with Wick that you should talk to your vet to see if there…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Should we be taking precautions against RHDV2 in 2024? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 4 months ago
From what I read online, they will no longer be importing vaccines for RHDV because there is now a US-made vaccine that has received authorization. How this translates to supply in the short-term, I’m not sure. Vets can order the vaccine directly from the manufacturer. It’s made by Medgene. Can your vet try ordering it? Or did they try ordering…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic What's going on with him? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 4 months ago
It could just be spring. Or as some people call it, March madness. The changing light and warmer temperatures can trigger hormones, even in spayed/neutered bunnies. It sounds like he is frustrated and he is testing the limits of the enclosure.

Bramble has been acting strangely. My mom has a rabbit of her own whom has just got spayed. So there are x-pens separating the 3 bunnies. (Bramble and Honeydew in one of appropriate size and my mom’s bunny in the other.) Ever since they all got put in their own bunny room Bramble has been chewing on the bars of his and Honeydew’s x-pen (even…[Read more]

Hey all,
Paranoid bunny parent here. I’m just wondering, should we be taking precautions against RHDV2 today? And if so, what should we be doing? I currently reside in CA which it seems is a regular hot-spot for the disease, and with spring being in full bloom I fear it will be getting worse soon.
I do not come into contact with other rabbits,…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Help! Bunny playing up. in the forum BEHAVIOR 1 year, 4 months ago
First, in case it is something priming anyone’s opinion of this rabbit, fighting amongst rabbit siblings is not surprising. There is a very common misconception that rabbits have the same concept of family as humans, but that’s incorrect– they will often fight and mate between family, so please know him fighting w/ his brother is not an indicator…[Read more]

Posting on here as I really need some advice…
We’ve recently homed a year and a bit mini lop. Fully neutered. He was my friend’s and they asked if we could take him as he was fighting with his brother.
He’s been here for almost a month now, and up until now has been an absolute gem. He’s had full reign of the house during the day and at night…[Read more]

My bunny had a bump by his tail. The vet said it’s nothing to worry about. He drained it and it has not come back since. He said it was a cyst

DanaNM replied to the topic Bunny peeing and pooping on my bed in the forum BEHAVIOR 1 year, 4 months ago
Agree with Wick & Fable, buns do seem to love peeing on beds. I know some members have had success with putting a plastic shower curtain over the bedding with a thin blanket on top. This blocks the smells from the bed so it can reduce marking and also makes accident clean up easier.

Inherently, beds are a very attractive and tempting place for even the most litterbox adherent rabbits to mark because it is comfy and so scent-filled. There is honestly little you can do to stop it aside from limiting bed time and/or putting a literal litterbox on your bed to attempt redirecting the behavior.
