I’m glad you managed to get her the appropriate meds! It’s never easy to find a good vet during holidays.
Silver is a common ingredient in wound care ointments. Fingers crossed it will help her heal!

Hey, thank you so much for the advice.
I do not have a car at the moment so I am unable to go out of my county as I rely on Uber/Lyft to go further distances. There are also no rabbit rescues in my county, only a few veterinarians that see rabbits.
While I work on getting him vaccinated, should I double wash his veggies? I buy pre washed already.

Thank you for the advice! Unfortunately there are no rescues/shelters that have rabbits near me and I do not have a car to travel further out.

Check shelters and rescues for leads too if you haven’t already. All the ones where I am have had all their buns vaccinated for a few years as well as require them for buns to do dates.

Sounds like you’re heading in the right direction then.

I suggest you should modify his living situation before resorting to rehoming. So many rabbits end up in shelters because people expect to be able to free-roam them when in reality some rabbits (maybe most rabbits) need at least some supervision to be able to free roam completely. Are you 100% sure he’s fixed? Could “he” be an unspayed female?

Hi there @Rae
You should definitely be taking precautions where you can. RHDV2 is not going away and has spread throughout both wild and domestic rabbits in CA. It seems to especially like arid climates (such as S CA).
The biggest transmission risks for an indoor rabbit would be from contaminated feed (veggies most likely, as hay is aged long…[Read more]

@DanaNM may be able to shed some light on this since she was in southern California during the outbreak.

Okay so I was unable to get ahold of the vet today. Just wondering, if they cannot or are unwilling to get the vaccine, should I be taking extreme precautions against the disease?
My current situation: Agoraphobic renting a room where Gus lives free-roam. I only leave to go to dr’s and grocery shop once a week. Is it possible that I could come…[Read more]

Thank you soo much for your replies. We ended up having to find a new vet that could see her asap. Got her on Panacur for 1 month along with 5 more days of Meloxicam. The vet said some bunnies just live with their limb wrapped unfortunately. He did say colloidial siver was good to use on it. We’re putting it on her one front foot pads now, too…[Read more]

The water bowl and hay rack are in the small cage section, there was hay in the tp roller but she ripped it all out already by that pic, and obviously there was a bunch in the little box that she kinda just mixed in there so i’ve since switched the hayrack to in front of it and use two tp rollers as extra hay holders/toys. I’m home all day so I’ve…[Read more]

I can’t really help but I’m having the same issues with Thumper except he’s not neutered (I’m having trouble getting him fixed along with Blossom, everytime I get enough money something happens).

My 2 month old bunny has been starting to have what looks like a green discharge around his nostrils, he has also been constantly sneezing and acting very skittish, I am aware he is generally a skittish rabbit but he has been acting weird, me and him have bonded to an extent and he has begun to act out of the ordinary around me, he is eating his…[Read more]

I agree with LBJ. It is quite common for rabbits to act up this time of year. It has to do with the rapid increase in daylight hours. Temperature is also a factor, although less so for house buns. Some buns act up in September/October as well, when daylight hours decrease rapidly -but the “worst” March madness tends to occur in the spring. There’s…[Read more]

I don’t know if they’ve tried or are even aware of it, I just called asking if they had it and they said no. I’ll give them another call tomorrow and see if they are willing to order it.
