I wouldn’t have thought about dust from the hay being an irritant, so thank you for pointing that out. I’m glad she recently migrated to a floor pen so she doesn’t have to climb/jump onto a box or ramp to get to her old set up any more. We’ve also been placing more bowls of water around for her because one of the medicines she’s on is a diuretic,…[Read more]

After his exam last week, the specialist said that she really doesn’t feel like it’s dysautonomia or megacolon because most of the time his poops are absolutely perfect. She said that rabbits with those conditions usually have abnormal poops most of the time and their cecum feels strange on physical exam (which his did not) and his x-rays from bac…[Read more]

Honestly, she’s only been put under once in her life, and that was when she was 1yo and I got her fixed.

The doctors plan was to lightly sedate her, not put her completely under, and then numb the area and cut it open to get out as much puss as possible.

I’m not sure what meds she would be on after her mini op, but I feel like most meds have…[Read more]

Hi, it’s been a while since I posted but I began trying to bond my bunnies for the second time one month ago.

Monkey – 1.5 years, female, netherland dwarf (spayed early 2020)

Tokki – 1 year, male, mini lop / lionhead / angora cross (neutered april 2020)

So… I’ve been doing daytime bonding for 5+ hours per day and this time around went much…[Read more]

I give Bun Jovi those oxbow joint support tabs and they seem to help? In any case, he loves them so it’s a nice treat.

Hmmm, the cycling does remind me a bit of what can happen with megacolon/cowpile/ cecal dysautonomia. But I also agree with your vet that having normal and healthy poops in between episodes doesn’t fit that diagnosis. Usually buns with megacolon never have healthy looking poops.

How is his weight? Weight loss (and specifically loss of muscle…[Read more]

@Ellie OMG that is so frustrating! I hope things calm down with that bunny once she gets spayed and is in a stable home.

    Thank you Bladesmith!

And also wanted to update everyone that WE HAVE THEM ALL BACK!

We moved into our new place about 2 weeks ago, and to say we are relieved is a huge understatement. The buns are all doing great and see very happy to be home (but it is also obvious they were very well cared for). Just revamped their pens and am spending lots…[Read more]

Omg yes Terry, Greebo, and Maggie were just a magical group.

I was so excited about the nose guards I made a post about them LOL https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/nose-guards/

You can connect them with tiny zip ties. You can also use small mesh hardware cloth (1/2″ or 1/4″ mesh size), they sell it in rolls at the hardware store. It’s basically…[Read more]

That’s so awesome! I LOVE when they just finally “click” like that! It really sounds like the fact that Bella is feeling better is helping a lot!

I think if you think they are ready for an overnight, go for it! And yes, it will involve sleeping near enough to the bunnies that you will hear if a fight breaks out (believe me, you will hear it!).

Agree with Wick 100%, stop all interactions for now and wait till you can get them both neutered. Keep them separated for now. Bonding will be basically impossible will they are intact, and you won’t really make any progress. Letting them interact now could even make things harder, because they are hormonal and smell different than they will once…[Read more]

Thanks Bam!  Yeah, all is well now, Mom is well and Alyssa is back to being an honor roll student.  She just thrives in an academic setting.  And I’m glad you’re still crocheting!  I love your work, and it’s something I could never do.  I’d end up stabbing myself with those needles.

It’s so good to be back!

I agree with Cinnamon Bun that it could be because he doesn’t feel great right now. It might help to block access to the couch until he’s 100% recovered to prevent it from becoming a habit.

Does she chew on fabric? I wonder if you could place some folded up towels near the box to make a low step to make it a bit easier?

And lots of rabbits like to hang out in their litter box. Mine have been pretty indifferent about most beds, they either pee on them or ignore them lol

I’m so sorry to hear about this. You have definitely set-up the best foundation, which is getting that imaging work done and having a clear understanding of the cause-and-effect behind what you observed. I  have no personal experience nor do I have an idea of recommended treatments. Generally, it seems like treating symptoms as they arise and…[Read more]

I agree with Wick, skipping occasionally will not cause issues as long as she’s a good hay eater (a lot of people only feed veg once a day anyway). She may look at you very expectantly at her normal veggie time though 😉
