Hi all I realise I’m a bit late but thought it was worth add a reply.

I’ve seen the twice now with my Dutch bun who turns 10yrs next month.

The first time was when we collected him from a shelter they had missed that he had mites and was highly stressed. A few ivermectin treatments later and his fur started coming back.

The second time was when…[Read more]

Thank you! We got her to eat little bits of veggies too for the first time in the past two weeks. But her left eye, the same side with the swelling is leaking with discharge now. I gave her the same drops we used the last time she got an eye infection (they worked pretty efficiently) and am doing my best to keep the area clean. Also Bam, I will go…[Read more]

I’m sorry to hear about your bunny. I’m a bit curious about the diagnosis since it’s rare for these tumors to metastasize. They just noticed abnormalities in the liver in the x-rays?

There are treatments available for thymomas, although success rates seem to vary. The tumor can be surgically removed or treated with radiation or both. Did the vet…[Read more]

    Hello,

I’ve been a lurker in the forums for quote some time but never posted. I decided to join as I’m looking for support and it is very hard to get it from non bunny loving people. If you would have asked me 5 years ago before I adopted two bunnies from out local shelter I would have said there is no way you can get as attached to a rabbit and…[Read more]

Given some of the bonding stories I read, I agree it was an easier one.  If it hadn’t been my first time it would probably not seemed difficult at all, but I am so lucky for your help! The end part was actually relatively smooth, more me worrying needlessly than them doing anything.  It is so nice to have put Miu’s pen away and have just two hay b…[Read more]

Sounds amazing! I think you’ve done it! Congrats!!!!

Pairs vary a lot in how attached at the hip they are, and you might find they get closer over time (especially since they had a relatively easy bonding process, although I’m sure it didn’t feel easy to you!). Some seem madly in love, other pairs seem more like good buddies. As long as you are…[Read more]

It’s a very good sign that she’s snatching the treats, even though she’s not 100%!

In terms of GI stasis, 3 days is not extreme in any way. My guess is she gets intermittently gassy and that’s painful for her. Gas follows pretty much any GI problem in a rabbit, and you can give simethicone baby gas drops several times per day, as needed. It’s not taken up by the body, it just acts locally in the gut and gets pooped out. It can’r…[Read more]

    Thanks cinnamon bun, 🐰😊

And thanks Dana! They made it 48 hrs together! Both of them seem happy together.  I have spotted grooming from both. They tend to sleep in separate spots, but do also snuggle together.  Food sharing isn’t an issue, though Miu keeps trying to eat things Dorian is chewing on.

The only downside is peeing out of the box. It w…[Read more]

It sounds good so far! Lovely that you’re seeing some improvement! Baytril is a broad spectrum rabbit-safe antibiotic (broad soectrum means it is effective against many kinds of bacteria), but as Dana says, abscesses as a rule need to be treated with both systemic antibiotics and local. The rabbit owner is often instructed to keep the abscess…[Read more]

Hello, thank you both for the responses! So we called the vet again today about changing the antibiotic and she said to continue Baytril for 7 more days before considering changing it… I think that this vet doesn’t seem to be the most experienced with rabbits, but she’s also the only one. I checked rabbit.org and everything for rabbit vets and…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁

Rabbits, like humans, can suffer from heart attacks and strokes. The fact that she was eating, grooming, and cuddling just hours before makes me think it was something like that, and that there probably wasn’t anything that could be done.

Again I’m so sorry for your loss. <3
