Bam is correct. It sounds like this new bunny is overwhelmed with his new environment. When a new bunny is brought home, it is best to keep them in a smaller area like a room or an xpen and limit their interactions with other animals in the house. Let them get used to the sights and smells and, of course, you (the bringer of food and good things).…[Read more]

How is she doing this morning? I agree that if giving simethicone and CC hasn’t helped, then a trip to the vet is in order.

My guess is the new bun doesn’t feel secure in his new home. This is normal with rabbits. A rabbit that feels threatened will either run and hide, or attack the threat.

Can you make an enclosure for the bun, one that only he has access to? It should have a hide house, (an upside down cardboard house with two door holes cut out will work fine),…[Read more]

My mom just got me a rabbit and for the first two days, it did fine with my other pets, but now it’s attacking my feet when I walk, my cat, and my dog. It does fine with my kitten, though, and isn’t bothered by him. How can I get them to get along?

    Hey

After 9 hours I would definitely intervine. About 6-12 hours without food and pooping is considered a veterinary emergency for a bun.

I understand the aggression can be offputing for handling her but I would suggest that she has entered the ‘danger zone’ now and a vet trip is in order or minimally some at home treatment if you cannot reach a…[Read more]

No, I have not told them. I gave her simethicone and the critical care food.

I’ve had a few experiences with smaller poops.

One was across a few years and eventually they were like crumbs. There were eventually other symptoms but the gradual smaller poops were the first sign. He passed away after a few years; autopsy showed it was a rare bacteria.

My old man (13+) currently just went through an acute small poop episode.…[Read more]

If he wants to stand to eat or whatever, you may be able to gently prop him up and keep him stable. You may have to tuck his legs under him in order to do this. Oftentimes, when they start improving, they will be able to stand with some assistance (but unable to hop yet).

Have you informed her owner of the situation? Perhaps they have some tricks that would work? I think at the very least you should try some simethicone to see if that snaps her out of it.

    Hello everyone.

Nellie’s poops seems to have halved in size the last week or so, they are also darker than usual. Some context – she did have her year vaccinations 2 weeks ago..? She has been health checked by the vet that vaxed her and by her exotic just yesterday, teeth are all in order and she seems healthy, her exotic mentioned her hips were…[Read more]

    Hey everyone 🙂

I haven’t been on here in a very long time, but I am currently babysitting a friends rabbit for about 10 days. She is about 3 years old, and is a Holland Lop. I have kept her at  my house several times before, and I picked her up in her cage yesterday and brought her home. She has previously been really aggressive and will bite.…[Read more]

Oh fab thankyou! I’ve been struggling with the details of caring for him whilst he’s like this!
just chatted with the vet and so far bloods are normal, can’t remember what bloods are back first it was a panel of some sort (still waiting on kidney and EC)

he seemed better this morning but this eve he’s quite quiet and seems like his front paws se…[Read more]

    Yes ma’am both neutered.

fluffo has sight of his home area and bounces back and forth. Pepper stays in the kitchen. He doesn’t even come out when I open the gate to his enclosure. Should I be keeping them both in the kitchen without letting fluffo go back and forth to his home area?

    Oh great!

Patience really is key, and it’s so wonderfully rewarding when they suddenly decide that the hoom perhaps isn’t so bad after all 😄

Clarification on the treats – the treats are tastiest that hold different values of foraging stuff, she still has MORE hay but we just want to keep encouraging the eating as much as we can.

The reason we were on board with stopping the recovery food is it wasn’t making a difference. She was having that alongside the hay and it did nothing for her…[Read more]

I agree it does look a bit like she pulled it herself as the skin underneath looks good.

Is she spayed? Wondering if she could be having a false pregnancy and nesting.
