Sterling replied to the topic Urgent Help Needed! Unwell Wild Bunny Found in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 10 months ago
To add on: It’s currently the morning here, she has some clear fluid running out of her nose. I put a warm water bottle in with her as well as hay. Very worried, I don’t want this poor baby dying in front of me. I should also note that she’s full-grown or at least very close to it.

Was on a walk when I spotted a wild bunny out in the open in the grass, breathing heavy and keeping her head lifted towards the sky. Not running away or anything. I picked her up and put her in a carrier because there are a lot of coyotes around here. The only wildlife rehab place anywhere close to me won’t take her and the vet that sees rabbits a…[Read more]

I’m very sorry to read you and your rabbit are going through this. What a caring owner you are and I’m sure he knows he’s being loved so much.
I have never had to make a QoL decision, but here is a website many people mention providing a helpful guide in making decisions: http://www.disabledrabbits.com/quality-of-life.html
I would also include…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic 8 week old lop diet in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 10 months ago
“Unlimited” alfalfa-based, good-quality pellets and unlimited alfalfa hay … is the recommended diet for young rabbits until about 6mo, though some begin transitioning to an adult diet earlier/later (it is not an exact science; what’s most important is the dense alfalfa nutrition early on to ensure healthy growth).
I say “unlimited” pellets…[Read more]

There is a lot of great info in the RABBIT INFO section of our website you can reference. Additionally, Wabbitwiki has great pages to pull information from, with citations provided.

I’m putting together a ‘bunny binder’ for someone – a little binder with some good, concise basic info on diet, care, etc. Things to help someone new with rabbits. I have a few go-to articles/resources, for example this house rabbit society link with list of vegetables. I was wondering if there’s any other good articles you like to reference,…[Read more]

Hello! We are adopting an 8 week old lop. I’ve never cared for such a young bun! I’m not sure what/how much to feed him and how/when to transition him to more food/adult food and hay. The internet is full of conflicting information. Can you please provide some assistance? Thanks so much!!

I’m not familiar with regulations, so don’t quote me on this. BUT… there may be a reason why things cannot be so simple. There could be conditions for receiving funding or vet care for their animals (i.e. are not allowed to use their services to provide free spays/neuters). It could also be a liability thing. Not sure.
Nevertheless, it must be…[Read more]

I wish I had waited when I decided that I wanted rescue bunnies and I was trying to adopting from shelters but they make it so hard to adopt. I had applied many times but was never successful so I decided to do a direct rescue myself and I got my 3 bunnies but little did I know there were going to be a crisis with getting vet help for spaying and…[Read more]

Quality of life question:
My 6 year old rabbit had a seizure caused by an EC flare up in August, lost function in hind legs temporarily but regained mobility. He was treated with Panacur. During that time, his vet also found that he had a cecum impaction which we started to treat with fluids and trimebutine to get it moving. He now has a huge…[Read more]

I had to separate them because they started to chase each other about humping one another, they can smell the male. I had to have him out today because I had to do some work and he got into the living room so I just left him to run about then he went back into his pen afterwards.
I let the females into the living room to roam about but not at the…[Read more]

I think they’ll be fine, as long the temp wont drop below 10 F, and as long as they have access to a dry place.
The dry place should be elevated off the ground by like at least 4 inches, and it must be protected against wind, rain, sleet and snow. The dry place should preferably have some isolation and be furbished with good quality hay, and/or…[Read more]

Hi, I have 2.5 month old holland lops (twin sisters) born in July and happily living outside in a large weatherproof hutch & play run. Will they be ok for NY winter and shed to a thicker fur in time? I just read that babies only get their full thick adult coat 4-6 months after birth. That would be too late….I always thought they molt and adapt…[Read more]

Hey!
Aww little Molly whats going on! I wouldn’t be surprised if this is territorial aggression hightened by having an unbonded bun around i.e owen.. Are you still trying to bond Molly and Owen?
Glenn and Nellie are doing well…they have a vet check up tomorrow because Glenn’s ears have been a bit floppier than usual.. And of course its time…[Read more]
