In addition to a diet too rich in calcium, water intake and exercise are both crucial in literally moving around what’s in the bladder to prevent sludge/stone formation, so if she has been less active and not hydrated, that may also be a contributor.

This is very stressful, sorry you have gone through all of this! And thank you for the detailed info! This isn’t normal bonded behavior. As to whether it’s a broken bond or never fully bonded, I’m not sure. Trios are difficult, and sometimes may not work if the combination of personalities isn’t right. It sounds to me like Simba was more shy at…[Read more]

I would call your vet and see if she can be seen earlier. Tell them she has completely stopped eating. It’s possible there is something else going on that is presenting like a dental issue, or her spurs are just very painful. In the meantime you should syringe feed her if she won’t eat anything.

It looks like they are free from additives so they should be safe to use. 🙂

Probably easiest to use clippers? I use a generic version of “manscaped” trimmers on my buns… they work very well!

I remember getting gum in my hair as a child and my mom got it out with an ice cube.

7 weeks is a very long time to have been on Baytril. I’m not familiar with the typical course for Metronidizole, but that also seems very long as well.

It’s true that stopping antibiotics early can lead to resistance, but I’m also wondering about the length of treatment. My thinking is that if you have a bacteria that is not responding to the…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic I need help/input on what could be causing these symptoms in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 7 months ago

EC can also cause hind leg weakness, making it harder for them to eat their cecals. It honestly could be both (I think this is what’s happening with BJ). Arthritis can be diagnosed with an x-ray if you want to confirm, but I think the other symptoms are still in line with EC so it’s worth going through with the treatment.

It looks like a bit of calcium build up in the urine. It’s normal for buns to excrete excess calcium in their pee. Is there also liquid pee? If so then I don’t think you need to worry. If she is only excreting a thick paste, that indicates bladder sludge and she should be seen by the vet.

If her diet is high in calcium (such as from alfalfa or…[Read more]

It’s really hard to know what to do in this situation. How is he doing now? With Bun Jovi, I’ve personally decided not to do any extreme procedures or interventions with him if he starts declining rapidly. But, that doesn’t mean I won’t try basic things!

I do recommend trying Emeraid (herbivore Sustain formula). Bun Jovi loves it, and I’m sure…[Read more]

    I’m glad he’s eating something!

I think moderator Dana gives her elderbun Emeraid instead of Critical Care, and that Emeraid is a lot better liked by her buns. I have never used Emeraid myself, but it seems like a really great product. There are both a herbivore intensive care formula and a herbivore sustain formula.

    I have never cleaned a line…[Read more]

I’m concerned about my two year old bunny

I adopt around 1 years old. And have her on the same dietary routine since then and I had no issue and everything is normal. Pee is normal and poop is normal.
two days ago I find the orange paste like consistency where she usually pee. She owes in the same spot every time.
And trying to Google it is h…[Read more]

I’ve found that all my local flooring stores have extra vinyl flooring, left over from oddly shaped rooms or something. They are typically more than happy to get rid of this, and you can call in to ask if they have any available that catches your eye. Nearly always free and you can select a piece that blends in to your carpet or decor. I would a…[Read more]

Is his mouth wet ? Like drooling ? Maybe he’s feeling off . I would take him to the vet so they can check his teeth . Is he eating hay at least ? Water ?

    Hey everyone, happy new year!

So Teddy, our 13 1/2-year-old Lionhead, has been eating super well the last 7 months since his arthritis caught up to him and he lost mobility.  (He’s not paralyzed, he just can’t hop.)  His appetite has even been stronger than the previous few years, and he’s been drinking water out of a bowl a couple times a day f…[Read more]

After reading about molting, it did say that after the molt, the fur starts returning through the bare skin.  And the molting has been going on for perhaps 2 weeks. So I’m guessing that you’re right.

He’s a Holland lop, I think they’re normal haired? I use a fine tooth comb to brush him. He seemed a little more tolerant earlier and I brushed him for a good 20 minutes.
