So mightve spoken too soon, she didnt eat the pellet mash again after a few nibbles 😞 Spent the whole day just trying to get her to eat anything at all and she produced one okay batch of poops in the evening but since then hasnt been producing much. Have been getting in at least 5-6 mL of water every forty min, also giving 0.4 mL gas drops at rhe…[Read more]

I know it can be very confusing! Romaine is definitely safe to feed daily. Of course more variety is considered better, but depending on where you live that may not be practical or possible. I aim to feed three types of veggies per day and I rotate them when I can, but I usually have a type of lettuce as one of them (sometimes romaine, sometimes…[Read more]

That’s great!
And yes splitting her main dose into two is safe to do. If you notice that the half dose doesn’t have much of a benefit I would stick with the one larger dose and mention her appetite changes to your vet. But eating the pellet mash is awesome! -

What if I break up the 0.8 mL meloxicam into two 0.4 doses? And thank you for the pellet mash idea she LOVES it!! Starting the day with a victory

Everytime i search up how often or how much of a veg you should feed i get different answers. For example, romaine lettuce, some sites it says it’s ok to eat daily, other places says it should be once every few days and the same veg shouldn’t be fed daily and you should feed different veg everyday. Currently I’m giving 2 romaine lettuce leave…[Read more]

That makes sense!
If you can get it, you may want to try Emeraid (herbivore sustain) as a recovery food. My buns hate CC but love Emeraid. You could also try a pellet mash and see if she likes that.
Some buns also do better with Metacam twice per day, as it’s metabolized very quickly.

Oh, wonderful!
As Dana said, you can offer the Emeraid as a daily supplement. It wont do any harm, but it could give his precious elderbunny self much needed energy and lust for life. I’m delighted that he seems to enjoy it! I hope this product will come to my far off little country eventually.

It’s definitely not a waste of money if it satisfies your scentific desire to know! I had a CT done for my dog (Effi), it confirmed pretty much exactly what the vet thought it was all about (really bad lower back discs and impingement of certain nerve roots). It felt very good to know, it meant we could just carry on with antiinflammatory meds and…[Read more]

She’s on 0.6 mL twice daily Enrofloxacin and 0.8 mL Meloxicam once daily right now. The vet said the abscesses are still just barely formed right now so she wants to wait until she can actually drain them, then inject with amicasin or penicillin like we did last time she had an abscess, which did work very well for Rain. She won’t eat critical car…[Read more]

Ugh I’m so sorry. 🙁
What medicines is she one? Usually abscesses need to be cleaned out and then treated with subcutaneous penicillin injections, oral antibiotics won’t penetrate them (and penicillin cannot be given orally to buns). Sometimes they are also packed with medicated beads to keep them from closing up again.

That’s great his eating is back to normal! I don’t think there’s any harm in offering him some to see if he likes it, but totally up to you! The sustain formula can be used as a regular supplement for seniors or other buns that might need a bit more nutrition.

The vet said an entire tooth fell out during surgery, from the root, so it won’t grow back. That spot is secreting pus which is what formed the abscesses, she gave subcutaneous fluids in the office. She said to continue the same medicines for another week before considering any other treatment. There’s still a chance they could work and dim…[Read more]

Thanks Bam, it will be interesting to see if anything comes up on the blood test. Seems they sent away for two although it doesn’t say what the second is, and they also managed to get a urine sample as well. I think they’re going to run the E.c test just to see (even though I know it’s not that simple). The vet did mention strokes as a possible…[Read more]

Thank you so much, Dana!! Thanks for your kind words too.
I’m so thankful for the Emeraid recommendation! Thankfully Teddy seems basically himself again the past couple of days — woohooo! He’s eating his normal pellets again and has a good appetite, so am I right to think we should hold off on the Emeraid until he has trouble with his re…[Read more]

She’s developed two abscesses, theyre growing large very quickly, she’s not eating or moving much despite every effort. Managed to get her in a carrier at least if she passes it can be without pain at the clinic.

Ugh how stressful!
With severe head tilt it’s recommended to keep him in a confined space that’s padded with bumpers so he doesn’t hurt himself, but if he’s jumping that’s not great either. I wonder if you could put him a slightly larger area but just make sure it has soft padding? It’s good you started treatment and the vet is going to do a…[Read more]

I’m not too sure how to upload a photo but I use the one by beaphar. I have always used it so i’m not sure how much of a difference it makes if I didn’t use it, but according to the package it ‘reduces unpleasant odours’.
And get well soon!!! So excited for you and your new buns 🙂
