I’m glad she ate a little!
I would offer her any thing she is currently eating, including extra greens. Sometimes a pile of wet salad can get things moving again, because dehydration can be at play. Important thing is to get food and fluids into her at this stage. A tummy rub and some simethicone are also a good step. Encouraging movement will…[Read more]

What a beautiful memorial tribute to your dearly beloved buddy. I’m so sorry for your loss, she was a gorgeous girl.
Seeing her stuff without her in it is indeed heartbreaking. Just the sight of his tunnel and toys drove me to tears after Breintje passed away.
I wish you all the best for the difficult time ahead.
Binky free, sweet Rain!

I think its March madness, because I’ve seen it both Bam (neutered male, living single) and Vilde (intact male, single) in January. It seems early in the year, but there is already a continous increase in amount of daylight compared to mid winter. It is primarily amount of light that drives these hormones. (Outdoors male buns need a certain temp…[Read more]

That’s amazing, I’m so happy to read this! Well done, it’s difficult to get a bunny to trust you.

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic Nipping? in the forum BEHAVIOR 2 years, 7 months ago
Both of our young binksters do this to me as well, although they did hit skin a few times. Ouch! It may not break skin but it does hurt. I always make the EEP! sound too, and they do it less and less.
It’s mostly a “get out of the way” thing too here, although they have nipped me once or twice because I smelled funny to them (during the monthly…[Read more]

It’s been unseasonably warm in the Netherlands for the last couple of weeks, and nature is confused. Some plants are already budding and animals are more active.
There’s also a massive spike in Owen and Molly’s activity level: they’re practically bouncing off the walls and want to run and play all the time. When they’re tired they do get together…[Read more]

I’m glad she ate a little bit! It’s quite fine to give some simethicone if you suspect a little gas, so it’s good that you have that on hand. It wont hurt, but it might help.

I’ll do that. I talked to my mom and she agreed to take her if I think she needs to go. She woke up from her nap a little over an hour ago and when I let her out to play she ate some of the oxbow hay and the orchard hay from the new brand. She’s acting a little weird tonight though, she’s being kind of slow and she’s just been sitting around most…[Read more]

You could perhaps book an appointment with the rabbit savvy vet? In my experience, a rabbit savvy vet with a trained eye is a huge lot better when it comes to rabbit teeth. A planned visit would be better than an ER visit too. For an appointment you have a set time and wont have to wait a long time in a waiting room, the vet isn’t stressed but has…[Read more]

I’m starting to get worried about this too. Would a non rabbit savvy vet be able to check her teeth? If she had to get them filed or anything I definitely would take her to a better vet I’m just wondering because the only rabbit savvy vet that’s taking emergency visits is 2 hours away and really expensive but if I need to take her I will.
Are…[Read more]

IMO 32″ x 32″ is still too small, unless it is kept open many hours per day (remember that even 4 hours of exercise means 20 hours in the cage). A guideline is that the bun should be able to take 3 hops in at least one direction, so 12 sq ft is a good rule of thumb for a medium sized bun.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic My Bunny Having Seizures? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 7 months ago
Agreed that this merits vet assessment at this point. There is no way for us to diagnose the seizures, but an experienced rabbit veterinarian will have access to resources and tests that can better inform your rabbit’s health status and any potential explanations for the things you have been observing.

I agree with Dana in that going this long with a hay inappetite in the context of multiple attempts at previously liked hays is unusual and would merit a vet visit. At the minimum, regardless of the initial cause, going this long without eating adequate amounts of hay could have caused a secondary teeth irritation issue that won’t help the matter…[Read more]

I may have to go for the at home injections after they show me how as unfortunately getting there is a bit of a struggle, I’m hoping this new thing cropped up is not another abscess in the same area again as they took out the entire abscess and capsule this second time around, its like a long bumpy line from behind the jaw bone that travels back…[Read more]

Image reviewed and approved by WickJust a quick little update. I switched Fresno and Nora’s whole litterbox setup to a very low box made for dogs, a grate over the litter, and a hay net, and he’s doing so much better about peeing outside of it. It’s been 4 whole days without pee right outside of the box whereas he us…[Read more]
