    Hi Rainn!

I know I’m a little late to the conversation, but I just wanted to share that I have had buns do this before, too. It usually turns out to be a particular batch they find offensive, even if it’s the same that they always eat lol. I think your idea of trying some new hays to pique her interest is a good idea!

At least it sounds like…[Read more]

    Thank you, Bam and LBJ!

Yeah, I’m wondering if it was a case of the previous owner said they did, the vet examined him, and if they weren’t dropped yet, maybe just took their word for it.

When he gets a little more settled, I will take a peek myself. He has impeccable litter box habits so far and doesn’t exactly have that distinct “intact boy”…[Read more]

I remember the vet saying “oh boy, was he neutered” when she first saw him. LOL  Now… you can’t even tell. His empty sacks shrank and you can’t really see them now.

Congrats on your new bun, Bruno’s mama!

A ver can express a bun’s testicles if they have descended but arent readily showing (as you know, rabbits can pull in their testicles under certain circumstances, like when they’re stressed during a vet visit). I agree it seems a bit unusual that someone who got a bun as an unwanted gift would spend time…[Read more]

    Hi Bruno’s mama!!! 😃

I buy hay directly from a farm, but I’m not in the USA. In the USA, horse hay is often mixed with alfalfa, sometimes a 50/50% ratip. That is obviously not goid for adult buns. Horse hay that doesnt have alfalfa is generally good for rabbits though, rabbits and horses can eat the same grass hays (alfalfa isnt a grass, its a…[Read more]

    Hello!

I normally order Small Pet Select Value Hay through Amazon. It’s a 10lb box for around $20 (free shipping with Prime) and has been consistently good quality.

They also always have a cute postcard tucked inside with some sort of adorable photo of a small furry critter (buns, piggies, rats, etc). One time, the bun pictured was the exact…[Read more]

I believe you can buy directly from Small Pet Select and Rabbit Hole Hay. You can buy large boxes (40lb+) from them.

Hi Brunosmama! Haven’t seen you in awhile! Sorry your post wasn’t approved right away. We were having some issues. Anyway, congrats on the new boy!

Hmm… well, sometimes it is pretty obvious that a bunny has been neutered and sometimes it isn’t. For example, if they had some good sized testicles then there would be some notable empty sacks left…[Read more]

Hey y’all, I want to distance myself from pet stores because I really am sickened by the things that happen behind the scenes in pet stores… concerning the way the animals in the pet stores get there. (Breeding mills) Really, I only buy hay from pet stores. I like to buy toys in bulk from small shops on Etsy, and I usually buy my supplements…[Read more]

    Hello all!

We’ve recently adopted a handsome Flemmie boy from a nearby shelter. At the time of adoption, they said their vet had confirmed he had been neutered prior to being surrendered to the shelter by the owner. We have adopted from this shelter before and I know that they are very diligent in making sure all their buns (and animals in…[Read more]

No no, in the half bath/hallway, they are all great! The sleep on their bed together, eat together, have nose to nose secret meetings, etc. Fully bonded in that space, if there is such a thing. They have been around the clock consecutively since 11/1 with another two weeks prior, and more time prior but not consecutively. Never had issues at all,…[Read more]

Have you tried any 1-on-1 time? It sounds like your pair has a really strong bond and they are happy to shut the new bunny out.

They have been in neutral 2×4, and then expanded to 4×4, for over a week around the clock. This not an open 4×4 but a 2×4 and then a doorway out to another 2×4.

What I’ve learned actually, is this has little to do with neutral vs non-neutral; it just happened that way because my neutral spaces are small. When NewBoyBun thinks he can run, he runs…[Read more]

There are wholesalers that sell parts for toy-making on Etsy, those are the only wholesalers I know about though! I can send you the name of the shop if you’d like? They make toys as well, if I’m thinking of the right Etsy shop.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Long-term gas issue suggestions in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 8 months, 1 week ago

I think Bam might be on to something. WBCs are a little high. I also notice creatinine is a little high. This is one measure of kidney function. I would suggest exploring this further. Yes, GI stasis can cause elevated numbers on blood tests. But the gas and stasis episodes could also be a secondary symptom of something else.

Bam replied to the topic Long-term gas issue suggestions in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 8 months, 2 weeks ago

As it says in the vet statement, it could perhaps be about pain from the kidney/urinary tract. Pain anywhere in the body of a rabbit can become apparent as GI trouble. It doesnt take a lot, gas will form if the gut slows, the bun gets gas pain and will often lose its appetite when the gas builds up. Kidney stones can be extremely painful for…[Read more]
