I’m still working on the bonding, but I’m still not really seeing much progress. I realized that those nips are mostly bites and some nips. But I can’t ever anticipate it happening! It just comes out of nowhere and there isn’t any ears pulling back or other body language change. So I used to just pet them immediately when she approaches him…[Read more]

No, I haven’t tried any thrift stores… although I would say we don’t have the best thrift stores around here. I’ll keep that in mind.
Flat sheets that are made of polyester?

It’s normal for rabbits to want to distance themselves from a sick rabbit. A sick or injured rabbit is a risk for all the buns in a group bc predators have a very good eye for weakness.
A bonded couple often stick together when one of them gets sick, but that’s not a given. The healthy bun might very well attack the poorly bun.
So your buns are…[Read more]

In the chaos of ElderBun’s condition, instead of taking care of him in any way, the two have decided to be pals and today, flopped closely across from each other sharing a lettuce. Then I come back from picking up ElderBun’s meds and they’re flopped closely across from each other grooming each other.
I feel like all my buns have only been in…[Read more]

Try search for flat sheets too.

Sometimes during cooler months, I have seen various stores like Walmart and Kroger (grocery chain) have cheap fleece throw blankets (50″ x 60″ usually) for around $4 a piece. I have used these for the buns before.
If they have the stores in your area, there is a place called Ollie’s Bargain Outlet that sells a variety of bedding. They usually…[Read more]

Haha! I have to strategically place tiles to prevent any additional destruction. He likes to make a hole here and a hole there… then the connect them.
Thank you, I will keep looking. I’m thinking I may need to resort to buying cheap twin sized fleece blankets.

I’ve bought twin and full sized fleece blankets. They are a lot thicker. The problem is cleaning and washing them all the time.
My girl destroys all. She helps me make use of my delivery boxes. I cut the cardboard and place over the random holes she makes as well as the seams. Then strategically place their furniture on top of the cardboard.

I’m sorry about your bunny. Losing them never seems to get easier.
What you are describing sounds like normal contracture that occurs postmortem. Everything tightens up and the head will curl back like that.
As for the why, we really don’t have any way of knowing. A nine year old bunny can have any one of many underlying issues that you most…[Read more]

My bunny of almost 9 years old passed away at the weekend. She was always so lively even up to her final days, still acted like a young bun. Even though she was getting older and was diagnosed with arthritis a couple of years ago it was still a shock. She had so much personality. Her sister misses her as do I.
The vet said the arthritis wasn’t…[Read more]

I practically have to buy a twin size blanket. I need 72 inches in length to have a continuous piece, hence why cheap fleece by the yard was so convenient. If there is a seam/overlap then he will absolutely destroy it. And if he gets down to the linoleum, he destroys that too.
The pen is a 4×6 NIC grid with drop in base. The base is plywood with…[Read more]

These are the ones I get:
The cheapest throw at Ikea – https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/vitmossa-throw-gray-90304889/
Walmart has Pawprints. It has some thread on the border that I cut off – https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Gray-Paw-Fleece-Throw-Blanket-50-x-60/5293278272
I’ve also gotten bulk on Amazon but it’s more expensive than Ikea and Walmart

I’m in panic mode! Joann is closing all their stores. I regularly buy fleece from there for $5-$7 a yard. What am I going to do? Other places are much more expensive ($10-$20 a yard). Does anyone have an inexpensive place they buy or order fleece from?

I see this thread is pretty old now, how are they doing?
Your sessions in the bathroom actually didn’t sound too bad too me! If you are still working at it, I would focus on increasing the length of the sessions. Sometimes once you get to the tolerance phase they need longer sessions to make progress.
Changing up the space can really help. If…[Read more]

Definitely a good idea!
Some things I would add:
I like to keep a box or two of the Oxbow Hay “stacks” in my emergency kit. They are small and compact, so easy to grab in a hurry.
For first aid, I think having subcutaneous fluids and meloxicam is very useful. Fluids especially can be very imporant supportive care and are almost never…[Read more]

I have only used the hot water bottle wrapped in a blanket trick. One time when Bun Jovi was very ill I put the water bottle next to him and a light blanket loosely over the top of him and the bottle, it definitely helped him. I’ve seen these warming disks you can put in the microwave for the same purpose but the name escapes me!

I hope the bulb will work.
When my bun Vilde was very ill, he would go and lie next to a radiator. Tried to give him a warm waterbottle wrapped in a fluffy blanket instead – and he was offended. He only wanted that radiator. It didn’t look comfy, but what did I know, I was just a hoomin, hoomins know nothing 😄
